THOMAS MANN

Found Object Sandwich

October 13th-14th, 2012

This workshop offers the opportunity to explore the design concepts and fabrication techniques important to an assemblage approach to jewelry making. While creating their very own personalized pieces, students will be introduced to an unusual cold connection system from which they can extrapolate other jewelry engineering solutions.

These found object creations can tell family history stories and celebrate family members, so bring your ORIGINAL photographs which can be scanned, resized, and printed if necessary for use in your pieces.

Also, feel free to bring small personal or sentimental items such as buttons, heirloom jewelry parts, including pieces of unusual material from nature or industrial materials such as plastics, wood, chain, electronic parts, etc. and tiny bits of cultural ephemera.

This class in open to everyone who has some sawing experience. No worries if you have not used a saw before, or just want a refresher... join us on Friday night, for the "Learn to Saw" workshop, and you'll be ready!
