SACO, Maine - The City of Saco is pleased to announce its recent hire of Ryan Sommer, who will join the Saco Parks and Recreation team as Director in mid-January, pending City Council confirmation on January 2nd.

"We are excited to have Ryan Sommer join our phenomenal senior leadership team and talented Parks and Recreation staff," said Kevin Sutherland, Saco City Administrator.  "His experience matches the needs of our growing community and will strengthen an already great team."

"I look forward to continuing to build new programs and working with the excellent staff in the Parks and Recreation Department," said Sommer. "They are dedicated and take pride in the work they do and it shows by all the wonderful programs that are being offered today."

Sommer comes to the City of Saco from the Community Center in North Conway, New Hampshire, where he served as Executive Director for the past twelve years.  In this role, Sommer was successful in funding the construction of a new multi-generational community center through grant monies and other fund-raising efforts.
