What's Happening at Brevard Family Partnership
Welcome from the CEO

Dear Friends,

In recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month I am compelled to applaud the many champions within Brevard County and our local system of care who tirelessly give of themselves to make a difference in the lives of the vulnerable children, youth and families we serve. Often times, I think we work hard to make an impact but fail to realize and celebrate how our daily efforts actually translate, long term, into the life of a child who has been spared the pain of abuse and neglect.

On April 18, I had the privilege to attend the Child Abuse Prevention Task Force's Awards Breakfast and was moved and inspired by David Lawrence's address, and by the nominees and recipients of the awards...

National Child Abuse Prevention Month

March is National Social Worker Month! While we take time during this special month to recognize and appreciate the efforts of our social workers, we truly are grateful EVERY day for those who work tirelessly on behalf of Brevard's children and families.

Social work is a profession for those with a strong desire to help improve people's lives. The dedication and commitment required of social workers is evidence of a selfless heart with a genuine desire to improve the lives of those in need.

We are thankful for the significant contribution made by social workers who strive each day by their work to change the conditions of the world and improve the lives of "the least among us." We celebrate their profession, continued commitment, and enthusiasm to protecting children, strengthening families, and changing many lives.

On behalf of those whose lives you changed, thank you!

Space Coast Prayer Breakfast

2013 National Day of Prayer -- Thursday May 2, 2013 "Pray for America"

The Space Coast Prayer Breakfast is an opportunity to join together spiritually through prayer with citizens throughout Brevard County and across the nation. We share the 2013 common theme of Pray for America emphasizing the need for individuals to place their faith in God our Savior. The scripture is Matthew 12:21, "In His name the nations put their hope" which exemplifies the reason we pray...for the hope of America.

Congressman Bill Posey, along with business leaders, professionals, ministry, church leaders, community and civic leaders have come together to organize this county-wide event.

News From the Field - DCM Spotlight

This month's featured Dependency Case Manager is Tiffany Fick, Devereux Unit 292.  Tiffany hails from the beautiful town of Swanton, Ohio.  She moved to Florida her senior year of high school and attended Palm Bay High.  She just celebrated seven wonderful years of marriage with her best friend and husband Sean.  Tiffany attended the University of Central Florida where she received her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology.  She chose this field because she loves to help people and see children do well.

Her favorite part of her job is when a child achieves permanency.  Her most memorable moment is when two sisters were placed in the custody of their father in another county, who also offered to take their brother (which is not his biological child) also.  She visited them every month and saw how the father daughter relationship blossomed.  Tiffany was so excited for all of them when the Court closed the case out with sole-custody to the father.

Tiffany enjoys reading and breeding dogs (Chihuahua's especially).  She and her husband have five dogs and one cat and a new litter of puppies!  Tiffany says these are their children, because they are "easier to train".  One thing people may not know about Tiffany is she used to be a dog rescuer.  Her soft spot is the love of all animals.

Tiffany is a true case manager as she works diligently and fights for the children entrusted to her care. Keep up the good work Tiffany!
