Progressive 15 Updates:

 

1.     Check out the Legislative Session Review by Danny Tomlinson and Tamra Ward on the P15 website   www.progressive15.org

 

2.     Mark Your Calendar - 2012 P15 Committee Summit has been changed to July 13th in Limon to coincide with Ports-to-Plains Regional meeting on July 12th  - Watch for details.  Sponsorship:  $100 (helps cover cost of community BBQ for us, Town of Limon and Ports-to-Plains group on the 13th) - Let Cathy know if interested.

 

3.     Action 22, Club 20, Progressive 15 and the Metro Mayors Caucus recently met to look at ways we can work together for mutual goals.

 

4.     Fall ballot initiatives are starting to appear and looks like it might be another busy season.

 

5.     The Progressive 15 board voted today to recognize 3 legislators who carried legislation that was very important to the future economy of the region.   Watch for details as we recognize these elected officials.

Colorado Selected As Finalist For Race To The Top-Early Learning Challenge Fund

Governor Hickenlooper and Lieutenant Governor Joe Garcia welcomed the US Department of Education announcement that Colorado is among five finalist states invited to apply for $133 million from the 2012 Race to the Top- Early Learning Challenge fund.

Scholarship Opportunity for Colorado Grad Students in Health Professions

Th Colorado Health Foundation has funded a $1.75 million dollar grant for a Scholarship Program to benefit Colorado Graduate Health Students attending Colorado colleges and universities. The grant is over a 48 month period and is aimed at helping to meet a shortage of health professionals across Colorado particularly in rural and urban areas.

CSU Northeast Regional Engagement Center Offers Regional Business Support

 

The CSU Engagement Center in Sterling is pleased to offer facility use for home-based or other regionally located businesses, freelancers, and remote workers.  They will be offering space on a sliding fee scale for up to 3 days per week as well as a drop in rate.  Please pass this information on to any groups or organizations you belong to.

Oil & Gas Task Force Makes Recommendations Related to State and Local Regulatory Jurisdiction

 

A task force created by Governor Hickenlooper to clarify and better coordinate the regulatory jurisdiction between state and local government has finished its work and made recommendations in a letter to the governor and General Assembly.

Center for Colorado's Economic Future at the University of Denver Wins Award

 

The Governmental Research Association awarded the Center for Colorado's Economic Future at the University of Denver the 

 Most Effective Education Award for their outreach efforts, website development, and media coverage regarding Colorado's severe structural financial imbalance.  This is the second consecutive year the Center's work has earned national recognition.
