About Topaz

Topaz is a silicate gemstone with aluminum and fluorine in its chemical formula. In its purest state, the jewel is completely colorless. Topaz's pinks, reds and purples are due to trace elements of chromium, while blue is often the result of irradiation. Brown and yellow appear when there are irregularities in the crystal's atomic structure.  Read More




 
Topaz History

As rich as its beauty, is topaz's history. Throughout history, different color topaz has been mined and owned by the queens and kings. According to them topaz was the provider of wisdom and knowledge. It was presumed to be a symbol of Ra, the Sun God, by the Egyptians who also considered it to be a provider of life. In short, the Egyptians highly revered the gemstone.  






Varieties of Topaz

The Brazilian imperial topaz ranges from bright yellow to deep golden brown color and may even be violet. Imperial topaz is also known to sometimes fade in color owing to an extended period of exposure to the sun. Pycnite is another columnar variety of topaz which are also referred to as the yellow-white variety.

Our in house staff of highly skilled craftspeople; specialists in metal work and wax carving, model makers,  jewelers, setters, polishers, CAD design assistants, stone management specialists and quality control all  contribute in a team effort which affords us the opportunity to manufacture all our work in our own studio/atelier in the heart of New York of which we are most proud. Although many will claim their studio is full service, in reality there are only a few who can complete all the above mentioned aspects in the manufacturing of Fine Hand Crafted Jewelry.
