Safe Sanctuaries Training -This Sunday
All volunteers who work with ministries for children and youth at the church (including weekly activities, overnight trips, VBS, Sunday School, confirmation, etc.) are encouraged to attend a Safe Sanctuaries Training on Sunday, January 14 from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Lunch will be provided. Please contact Jennifer McIntyre or Jim Gass or the church office for more information.
Youth Service Fund Offering - This Sunday
The Broadway youth will be collecting an offering TODAY after both services to take with us to Resurrection for the Youth Service Fund offering. This offering allows youth a way to make a difference in our world. The Youth Service Fund offering or YSF is money that is raised by youth, distributed by youth, for the benefit of youth. The conference goal this year is $33,000. With your donations this Sunday we can give a greater contribution to the offering at Resurrection with hopes of meeting our goal at Resurrection 2018.
Thank you, Lindsey Kizer
 Holston Conference YSF Chair
Our next outing is scheduled for Saturday, January 13. Our plan is to hike the Bob Hayes Trail at Camp Wesley Woods (with Bob Hayes as our guide). Bring a packed lunch and be sure to dress for the weather. We will leave from the church parking lot at 9:30 a.m. Please make a reservation through the church office so that we can let you know of any schedule adjustments.
January Hikes at Camp Wesley Woods
At the request of Camp Wesley Woods, Bob Hayes has been leading hikes on the camp trails on Saturday mornings in January. This can be a great way for the whole family to get some exercise while exploring interesting features at camp. More information can be found on the camp website. A Time of Blessing for Our Church Leaders
This Sunday during both services, we will have a time of blessing, dedication and prayer for those who have stepped forward to serve Broadway UMC as leaders in areas of administration, nurture, outreach, worship, communications and welcoming. It takes a whole host of volunteers to help us live out our Vision Statement (God envisions Broadway United Methodist Church as a growing and caring faith community focused on serving others and sharing the love of Jesus Christ with all.) and our Mission Statement (The mission of Broadway United Methodist Church is to share the good news of Jesus Christ through worship, service, witness and study.).  Click here to see the list. And thank you to all who are willing to serve.

HALL MONITOR PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
One of the ways that we keep our children safe is monitoring the Children’s Hall during the Sunday School hour. This job simply requires you to sit (or stand) and be a presence during the time that children will be in the hallways between services and Sunday School. Only one volunteer per Sunday is needed. Men or women can do this ministry. This is one of the vital ministries of our Church needed to help our Sundays run smoothly. Even if you can only volunteer 3 or 4 times a year it would be a huge help. If you are interested please contact Doug Hill or the church office.
January Odyssey Trip
With the uncertainty of January weather, this month's Odyssey will be a lunch trip to Becky's famous Grocery and Grill on Thursday, January 25. We will meet at the church at 11:00 am and take the church bus. You will need a dollar for gas and cash for your lunch as Becky doesn't take charge or ATM cards. Please fill out the form in the pew pad or make a reservation with the church office, and save room for Becky's homemade desserts!

Join us Sunday, January 28th, at 6:00 p.m. as we host "Wendel Werner's Concert for Peace #5: Conversations." This is a free concert addressing several social issues of the day with suggestions of hopeful solutions. Wendel Werner, who serves on keyboards with the RS service band will bring over 15 of his musician friends including Alan Eleazer to present a lively, topical, and uplifting concert.

Broadway UMC Inclement Weather Policy

If Maryville City Schools are CLOSED for inclement weather conditions, all activities for that day are cancelled and the church office is closed. If there are exceptions (such as rehearsals and individual meetings), participants will be notified.

In the event of snow and/or icy road conditions on Sundays, or on days of scheduled church activities, first and foremost, it is our desire to have each of you to be safe. If you experience a problem getting out, or need assistance in anyway, please do not hesitate to contact the church office.

For the most part in the event of inclement weather, Pastor Laura is committed to making every effort to get to the church and to have it open for worship. That being said, if it becomes necessary to CANCEL any services:
  1. Check the "Homepage" of the church website: www.broadwayumc.net.
  2. An email will be sent to all known email addresses of record.
  3. Additional notices will appear on the church Facebook page.
  4. Watch WBIR-TV (Chanel 10) for church closings, or visit their website: www.wbir.com.
