USF Sarasota-Manatee and regional partners host an update from Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam
|
|
On September 27th the Institute for Public Policy and Leadership at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee, in partnership with the Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance, the Manatee Chamber of Commerce, and the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, hosted a joint luncheon with Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam as the featured guest speaker.
The possible gubernatorial candidate complimented the USF System and encouraged business leaders to work together to solve regional problems and about his plans for tackling several state-wide issues.

USF Homecoming Parade 2016

The 2016 Running with the Bulls Homecoming parade took place on October 7th and was a celebration of USF pride and Bull spirit.
Riding in the parade were State Representative Darryl Rouson (D-District 70) and
USF Alumnus and State Representative for the USF Tampa Campus, Rep. Shawn Harrison (R-District 63) joining USF students, alumni and the campus community.

U.S. Representative Kathy Castor and USF Health host diabetes roundtable discussion
|
|
On October 13th, U.S. Representative Kathy Castor (D-FL14) along with State Representative Ed Narain (D-District 61) joined leaders from USF Health and around the community for a roundtable discussion about taking action to treat and prevent diabetes. The event took place in the USF Marshall Student Center.
In the discussion, which was moderated by Rep. Castor, the participants spoke about the need to raise awareness about diabetes and how the Tampa Bay community should work together to maximize research and resources for people with diabetes.

Florida Representative Darryl Rouson Visits USF to Discuss the Importance of Behavioral Healthcare, Substance Abuse Prevention and Social Work Graduates
|
|
State Representative Darryl Rouson (D-District 70), visited faculty, students and representatives from the USF College of Behavioral & Community Sciences (CBCS) on Friday, October 14th.
CBCS faculty described programs related to Representative Rouson's interests, including behavioral healthcare and social work, with special emphasis on addictions, trauma, and various interventions such as drug court and bystander intervention programs.

Save the Date for USF Day at the Capitol
Bulls Advocates should save the date of Wednesday, February 8, 2017 for "USF Day at Capitol"!
This is an annual event where students, administrators and alumni travel to Tallahassee and advocate for the USF System. This day gives participants the opportunity to meet with elected officials, and discuss the USF System's legislative priorities.
