The Small Business Administration recognizes the first week in May as National Small Business Week . They are hosting an impressive three-day conference (free), events across 50 states, and online resources. Since 1963, the SBA has been recognizing the efforts of America's entrepreneurs and small business owners.

Visit their online calendar to view workshops and trainings held by a variety of small business support groups and nonprofits like Score, Vancouver Library, Clark College, GVCC, and the City of Vancouver.

Small Business Resource Open House on Friday, May 11
The Vancouver Community Library invites you to the Small Business Resource Fair held May 11 2018, from 11am-1pm. This free resource fair, is in honor of Vancouver’s Small Business Month and will connect new and developing entrepreneurs with organizations that will assist them with the next steps.

This resource fair will feature information tables from the SBDC, Score, Clark College, WSU Vancouver, SWCA, the Chamber, and many other nonprofit business support groups as well as seminars scheduled nearly every half hour on topics like funding, business pathways, and WSU Vancouver's MAP program.

Opportunity Highlight with PIC
Partners In Careers (PIC) is seeking business professionals for two-hour mock interview sessions at area high schools. If you’d like to help prepare our future workforce via PIC’s YouthFirst students, email Kirk@swwpic.org to get started and register as a volunteer. The City of Vancouver has proclaimed that the entire month of May is Small Business Month ! There is a community calendar where all the business support groups have been asked to load events, training classes, workshops, and seminars onto it for an organized place for people looking to start a business, and people running small businesses can look to get involved.

The Nutter Foundation is seeking volunteers for their May 19th-May 20th Dozer Days event which lets kids dig in the dirt on heavy construction equipment. Nonprofit groups that volunteer can receive money for their organization, as well as receive first priority in receiving grant funding from the Nutter Foundation. Info here.
