Tips for Marketing to the Governement

Lenora Leasure - PTAC Program Manager

Did you know that selling to the government employs similar marketing skills used in commercial

or private selling?  Market research, business and financial planning, networking, communicating, building relationships, and being prepared, patient, and persistent are all keys.  And once you get your "foot in the door", you need to perform well and continue to market in order to grow.

An important step in marketing to the government involves creating a capability statement.  This one-page document includes the company core competencies, past performance, data, and differentiators.  The statement is a useful tool that is often reviewed by the end users, the contracting officers, and others in the decision making process.

If your company is looking to sell to the Federal, State or Local governments, or just wants to refresh current government marketing plans, the JARI PTAC can assist.  Please contact us today at (814) 535-8675 or [email protected] .
