Sassy Stitches!

We have been SOOOO busy this week!  We are planning fun new classes and getting in LOTS of new fabric.  Someone made a comment about more brighter fabrics being in the shop.  I've listened and many customers asked for that.  But never fear!  I also love Civil War, Kansas Troubles, and Holly Taylor.  That's my problem!  I love it all!  We will always carry a variety in an effort to satisfy everyone's taste. Since Mom and I bought the shop, I've started liking more and more different colors and it's so much fun to see it all and watch customers fall in love with a particular line.  Here's a sweet line we got in this week.  It's called Guernsey and it's so sweet.

While you're in town for this year's Airing of the Quilts on Friday, May 12, join us for a class to make this sweet tulip wall hanging. This class begins at 10:00 and lasts until noon. Cost will be $20 plus supplies.  Call the shop or come by to reserve your spot!

We will also have a Make & Take class on Saturday, May 13.  Stay tuned for more details!

Remember we are providing opportunities for you to come work on your club projects during the "Sit & Sew" times this year or if
you're not in a club, just come sew! These days have been set aside for you to use our classroom and the supplies while you fellowship with others and work towards completing projects.   BUT . . . YOU MUST RESERVE A SPOT.  We are limiting the number of people to 10 on each of the sewing days so if you are interested you need to call and reserve your spot.  It's totally free!  But we only have room for so many so let us know you're coming and we will let you know if there is still room. You can get into the classroom at 9:45 and sew until 4:00!  WOW!
Staff can answer questions and help you briefly but they will be working on the floor taking care of other business. This is not class time so please be respectful of our staff members. You can order lunch or bring your own. Come sew with us!   Did I mention it's FREE ?!?!?

We love seeing what he's going to bring in next!  We also love seeing his other half, Ann. Show & Tell
Our own Elaine Enloe made this beauty.  Yes - Elaine is now working at Sassy Stitches!  She didn't want to be in the picture and kept hiding behind her awesome quilt, but we want to welcome her to our family! (And I'll get a picture of her yet!)

A customer shared this Holly Taylor quilt with us.  You can never go wrong with log cabin blocks!

I've been telling Jan that we never get to see her quilts because SHE quilts them!  So she brought in this beautiful hand-quilted one to share.  Her mother and grandmother made it and quilted it for her.  When she was little, she loved sunflowers and was amazed at their beauty and size. What a treasure!

Ryan's Case for Smiles
Our charity focus at Sassy Stitches is Ryan's Case for Smiles. This is an organization that provides fun pillowcases for sick children .  ALL of our donations will be used in Asheville, NC at Mission Children's Hospital. I volunteered for this charity for several years and have personally delivered pillow cases to kids at Mission Children's Hospital and assure you it brings great joy to sick children to pick out a fun pillowcase. When you read the story about Cindy and her son, Ryan, you will understand what a great cause this is. It's the perfect charity for anyone who sews! Here is a link to the organization's website.
We will accept pillowcases, fabric donations for making pillow cases and monetary donations. If you choose to make pillowcases, there are tips on the website (see link above) about making them. The volunteers who take the pillowcases wash them before delivery. Something so simple as a fun pillowcase really does bring a smile to a sick child.  THANKS!
