Puyallup Public Library Events

Children in 4th through 6th grades can experience books and the library in a whole new way with a series of FREE activities designed especially for them at 3:45 pm every Thursday in October except Halloween. "Read Outside the Lines" is a series of programs revolving around great children's literature. Each program will include poems, a selection from the book, and related activities - a fun way to delve deeper, and increase reading power. As an added bonus, those who attend 3 or more programs will get a FREE book. You don't have to read the book first to enjoy these activities.
The fall 2013 series will be based on books by Susan Cooper. On October 10th enjoy the  Magician's Boy a story that involve puppets! and October 17th will feature the Silver on the Tree where you can discover the mythology and folklore of the Midsummer's Tree and other trees in the Dark is Rising Sequence and elsewhere. No registration is required.

ALSO Star Wars Reads Day is approaching at the Puyallup Public Library!  "Reading and Star Wars have gone hand-in-hand since 1976, when the novelization of the original Star Wars movie was released. Over the years, many fans have discovered the joy in reading through Star Wars books, and we hope to continue encouraging more people to read" says Carol Roeder, Director of Publishing at Lucasfilm.
On Saturday, October 12th, the Library will hold two programs for Star Wars fans. From 11 am to 12 pm, we will have crafts, games, and trivia for fans of all ages - costumes are encouraged.  Get crafty, you will!

Be sure to join the library at 1 pm for From Golden Age to a Galaxy Far Away, a lecture on the Star Wars saga.  You have always known that Star Wars happened "a long time ago", but did you know that much of this classic film was influenced by the 1930s and '40s? Join Cole Horton, astromech builder and Star Wars expert (http://www.worldwartostarwars.com/), for a look at how the golden age of Hollywood, classic comic books, space operas, and the Second World War all shaped the Star Wars saga.

Exclusive to Corkscrew Cellars

Ever sit down after a long day to wind down with a magnificent glass of wine, ice cold brewski or perfectly concocted cocktail only to have it ruined by a pesky little pest?! There's nothing more irritating and sometimes horrifying  than to look down as you're taking that sip and seeing those little buggers have beat you to the punch and floating atop. Rather than struggle with the big questions in life like "Do I fish the bugger out or pour a new one?" invest in a BEV HAT!

Corkscrew Cellars has just what you need in these 100% stainless steel beverage covers for your wine glass or beer mug. Visit them today.
