CHS Spanish Teacher Sandy Guzman Leads the Way!

Sandy Guzman, CHS Spanish teacher, developed two innovative courses that were approved by the Board of Trustees for inclusion in the 2016-2017 courses  offerings. Spanish for Health Care and Education Professionals and Spanish for Law Enforcement and Business Industry Professionals are the first courses of this type developed in the state of Texas. The Texas Education Agency invited Ms. Guzman  to sit on the TEA Innovative Course Committee in order to share her ideas and assist the state in developing more courses such as this. We are very proud of her, and we welcome the opportunity to share the knowledge and expertise of CISD teachers statewide!

New Additions to CISD Police Department
Three new officers have recently joined the Corsicana ISD Police Department, Officer Denson, Officer Williams and Officer Kruse. The addition of these three will put a full-time police officer on every one of the CISD campuses. The safety and security of CISD students and staff continues to be a priority for the CISD Board of Trustees and the District. Once these three new officers are trained, they will be assigned a campus.

"The Board of Trustees continues to allocate resources for additional safety
and security measures.  We are proud to have these experienced officers joining our CISD team," said Superintendent Dr. Diane Frost.

Officer Lavon Denson comes to CISD from the Navarro College Department of Public Safety where she has spent the last eight years as a Campus Police Officer.

Officer Jakim Williams is from Sherman High School where he taught Criminal Justice Classes and the Dallas Police Department where he spent four years as a Patrol Officer  in the South Central Division. Officer Williams holds a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice.

Officer Jessica Kruse is from the University of Texas Police System where she has  spent the last year as a Campus Police Officer. Officer Kruse is also triple certified as a TCOLE, Fire Fighter, and Emergency Medical Technician.

"We will continue to make safety a priority throughout the district and serve the students and staff of Corsicana ISD," said CISD Police Chief Randy Ratliff.
