In 2015, producer Roy Conli won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film Big Hero 6. With a notable career spanning more than 30 years, Conli has earned his place in entertainment history, and, as this year's honoree as the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences Distinguished Alum.

The College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences is proud to announce that Music Professor, Nadia Shpachenko, has received multiple nominations for the 58th Grammy Awards for her album "Woman at the New Piano," which is set to air on Feb. 15, 2016. The album also includes a recording of compositions by Cal Poly Pomona Music Professor, Peter Yates.

Assistant Professor Eleonora Rossi from the Department of Psychology and Sociology is currently working on a grant proposal for the National Science Foundation's Major Research Instrumentation Program that assists in increasing access to scientific and engineering instruments. In addition, this is the first time a grant proposal has been written for obtaining a scientific instrument for the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences.
