2017 CAHEC Partners Conference -
5 Things to Know Before You Go

The 2017 CAHEC Partners Conference is next week and we've got some exciting things lined up for attendees this year. The list below will help you get prepared for an exciting two days of networking and industry updates.

1. The conference is being held at the Grandover Resort & Conference Center in Greensboro, NC, this year. It is a new venue for us and we are sure you'll enjoy your time at this beautiful resort.

2. Remember  to wear black and white to the Tuesday night dinner to help CAHEC celebrate its 25th anniversary. This is a casual outdoor event, so please dress comfortably!

3. CAHEC will be live-tweeting from the conference. Follow @CAHEC_Raleigh for updates and use #CAHECPC17 to join the conversation. You can also follow our updates on Facebook

4. Our Partners Appreciation luncheon will be held on Wednesday, May 17, at noon. Join us as we recognize the hard work and achievements of this year's CAHEC Award recipients.

5. Don't   leave early! We'll be giving away four Amazon Echo Dots, one to a lucky winner in each of the final four sessions. We have great panelists lined up on Wednesday afternoon, so you won't want to miss it!

As an added bonus, there are no parking decks at this location, so parking is free for all attendees. For the conference agenda, networking event details, and registration times, visit our conference website.

Our Mission in Action

  • Congratulations to Dana Boole, CAHEC's President and CEO, who was recently appointed as Chair of the Affordable Housing Advisory Council for the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta. The Advisory Council comprises 15 representatives from a diverse group of community and nonprofit organizations actively involved in providing or promoting low- and moderate-income housing and community lending within FHLBank Atlanta's district, and provides advice to the board of directors regarding ways to enhance the effectiveness of its housing finance and community lending mission.
  • The CAHEC Foundation donated $20,000 in scholarship funding to Drew Charter School in Atlanta, GA, this month. We were proud to help Drew Charter School, one of CAHEC's New Market Tax Credit investments, celebrate their first graduating class by sponsoring four $5,000 scholarships.
  • Several CAHEC Staff members attended the ribbon cutting for Parkside Commons in Greenville, NC, last month. This 98-unit senior property offers residents lots of great amenities, including fitness equipment provided by CAHEC's Rex Williams Wellness Grant.

CAHEC Welcomes New Team Members to Asset Management

CAHEC's Asset Management department covers all aspects of tax credit compliance and the management of our portfolio's assets. It is with our team of industry experts that we accomplish this goal throughout the year.

We are excited to introduce these four new additions to our Asset Management team:
  • Yolanda Law joined CAHEC as a Manager, Asset Management. She has over 15 years of experience in the affordable housing industry and previously worked in the Community Lending and Investment Banking group for Wells Fargo. Yolanda's wealth of knowledge on compliance, financial reporting, risk management, dispositions, and managing assets, is invaluable as she embarks on this new leadership role.
  • Désirée Mittman brings over 11 years of financial services experience to her role at CAHEC as an Asset Manager. In her previous role at Wells Fargo, Désirée worked in the Corporate Investment Banking and Capital Markets groups, where she gained valuable experience in tax credit underwriting and asset management. Désirée's diverse background and tax credit experience is a great addition to the Asset Management team.
  • Chijioke Ebbis joined the CAHEC team as an Asset Manager and brings three years of experience from his previous role at the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. He has experience in asset management and also worked as a Research Analyst for the Housing Authority of DeKalb County. Chijioke's expertise, drive, and positivity bring great energy to the team.
  • Catherine Bartels joined CAHEC in April as an Asset Manager. In her previous role, Catherine specialized in the adaptive reuse of existing properties utilizing Historic and New Markets Tax Credits. She brings strong financial analysis skills to the team and a diverse understanding of multiple tax credit incentive programs. Catherine's four years of experience add depth and competency to our team of asset professionals.
Jill Odom, VP of Asset Management, is proud of the team's expansion over the past few months. "Acquiring Yolanda, Désirée, Chijioke, and Catherine has 'supercharged' our already exceptional Asset Management group. They add depth of knowledge and expertise in numerous aspects of real estate performance management, and we're so pleased to welcome them all to CAHEC."

Be sure to find our Asset Management team at the Partner's Conference next week!
