A Message From the Chair
Accreditation is Integrated in Our DNA
|
Richard W. Myers Commission Chair |
As my career as a police chief evolved, I found that at some point I was only called to lead accredited agencies, and in fact, I probably limited my consideration to those who were. I've now had the privilege of leading three police agencies that were CALEA Accredited.
My discussions with colleagues around the country often result in a common belief that one inherits a higher overall quality agency when appointed to one that is already accredited.

Using PowerDMS with the Four-Year Process
Agencies awarded in Miami Transition First
CALEA is dedicated to providing resources to client agencies to manage the process. When agencies transition to the four-year process, the CALEA PowerDMS Assessment Tool will be used to manage accreditation. At this time there are no additional fees associated with this process and the assessment tool is included in agency annual continuation fees. As currently practiced, estimated assessment payments that are not used or exceed the estimated cost will be settled when assessments are completed.
For more information conference attendees should plan to attend the New Accreditation Process workshop at the Miami Conference. You can also click here for benefit and transition information.
