While attending college as an undergrad, it didn't take long for me to gain admiration for the highly trained and professional campus police agency that kept students and faculty safe every day. I had several occasions to contact the campus police, once when a drunk driver crashed into a whole row of parked cars at my dorm, once when some thieves were stealing wheels off cars in a remote parking lot. Judiciary Committee Hearing
Policing Strategies for the 21st Century
On May 19, 2015 Executive Director Hartley represented CALEA on a four member panel during a House Judiciary Committee meeting on law enforcement best practices and strategies for professionalism. Director Hartley spoke about the value of accreditation, the importance of voluntary participation, the development and application of standards, and other related issues. Commissioner Craig Webre received the 2015 Buford Pusser National Law Enforcement Award on Saturday, May 16th. The award is given annually to officers who have exhibited heroism and leadership in law enforcement. The award presentation was held in conjunction with the 27th Annual Sheriff Buford Pusser Festival in Adamsville, Tennessee. Dwana Pusser, daughter of the late Sheriff Buford Pusser, presented the award.
