FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New CAMRA BC Branch for South Fraser Region

Victoria, BC - The Campaign for Real Ale Society of British Columbia announced today the establishment of a new branch covering the South Fraser region of the Lower Mainland encompassing Delta, Ladner, Langley, Richmond, Surrey, Tsawwassen and White Rock. With the recent addition of Powell River, this brings the number of active provincial CAMRA branches to five.

Rick Green, President of CAMRA BC, welcomed the society's latest branch at an important time in the province as the government reviews BC's liquor regulations. "We are very pleased to now have representatives in South Fraser who can be part of the conversation on how to improve our liquor laws and directly represent the interests of their region's consumers," said Green. "We welcome the new members of our team supporting the promotion and responsible consumption of natural, craft beer in BC."

Previously, CAMRA BC members living in the South Fraser area were represented by CAMRA Vancouver. They will now have their own branch to more effectively administer their affairs, and better engage consumers and businesses in the community.

Mike Willis, President of CAMRA South Fraser said, "Seeing the growing interest in craft beer in the South Fraser, we saw an opportunity to further develop the region's beer culture by establishing a new CAMRA BC branch. As part of a provincial group, we will give our residents a greater voice in consumer affairs."

"I'm pleased that such a dedicated group of CAMRA BC members have taken the steps to launch a new branch in the South Fraser area," said Adam Chatburn, President of CAMRA Vancouver. "I wish the very best of luck to everyone involved and look forward to joining them for a beer on September 21st at their launch party at the Big Ridge Brewing Summers End Cask Fest."

CAMRA is the only organization in BC representing beer consumers

in the provincial government's liquor law review. To join CAMRA BC in support of craft beer, visit http://camrabc.ca/contact/ to contact the branch nearest you.
