DEVELOPING EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP

APPALACHIA: Building Relationships & Ministries That Help Overcome Poverty

Hosted by Town & Rural Resource

     Program (TARRP)

Focus: For all churches seeking to serve those with an Appalachian background

Sept. 19 from 9 am - 4 pm

Oct. 31 from 9 am - 4 pm

At Pleasant Grove UMC, just 3 miles east of Zanesville, off Interstate 70.

Those with a cultural background from Appalachia are in city and rural areas throughout Ohio. Oftentimes, we do not understand how important it is to build relationships before offering our view of how to help, or come alongside those in need.  At these events, we will be introduced to Appalachian and poverty cultures, understand those we seek to serve's value, learn about proven ministries which are making a kingdom difference, discover grants available for ministry, learn best practices for working with the poor, learn how to develop justice and mercy ministries, and culturally what spirituality and discipleship means to those we seek to serve.

These two workshops offer practical and contextual speakers from Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio.  The speakers do not repeat, so we encourage you and your ministry team to attend both events at a reduced price, if at all possible.

A brochure is linked here, or contact Debbie Ketcham at [email protected] or 614-580-2382 for a brochure.  We have a hotel block for your convenience, under TARRP.

Dear Companions on the Journey,

Karen Corbitt used that greeting. I like it. We are on this journey together.

Please click on August newsletter for Ohio PAUMCS. Please share with as many office professionals as possible.

Thank you in advance. I hope to see many at our Fall Conference in Baltimore OH on September 22.
