One-to-One Conversations
It is the time of year for each pastor serving a church to meet with the District Superintendent or the Assistant to the District Superintendent.  DS Tim Bias will meet with elders and full time pastors ( sign up here ) and Assistant to the DS David Cady will meet with retired and part-time pastors( sign up here ).  Invitations were sent this past week to direct you to the correct sign up link.

All One-to-Ones will be held in CAS churches, so please pay close attention to the location when you sign up.

You are asked to complete a Leadership Profile  and return it to the District Office one week prior to your 1-1 and bring a hard copy with you.  If you have questions or need assistance please call Carol at the District Office.
Fellowship of Local Pastors Retreat
Make connections, be inspired, and find renewal! The Fellowship of Local Pastors and Associate Members Fall Retreat will be held at Mohican State Lodge October 13-15. Activities include daily worship (with Bishop Palmer preaching on Thursday evening), formation sessions, networking, communion, rest and relaxation. Early bird registration discounts end June 30. Feeling Called to Lead A VIM Team?
Come and learn how to organize and lead a mission team in Ohio, the United States or around  the world. Join experienced team leaders to learn skills and information for planning and leading  a mission team. This training will also look at the role of the Spiritual Guide and provide practical  resources for nurturing the spiritual life of team members. When engaged in mission, it is important  to intentionally use the serving experience as a tool for spiritual formation. How You Can Serve- Right Now!
  Our hearts go out to all of those who are affected by the flooding in West Virginia. Many of us want to help right now ! First responders, local authorities and others are still very busy with emergency and early relief efforts. Clean-up efforts will likely continue for  weeks and months. If interested, you may register your volunteer team with the state's volunteer site www.volunteerwv.org  and wait to be invited. In the meantime, should you wish to engage in disaster response and recovery ministries, consider volunteering with one of our many recovery projects listed below where your help is very much needed " right now "!  More information is available HERE.
VIM PROJECT - NICARAGUA
A Volunteers In Mission team is forming for work in Managua, Nicaragua.  The dates are October 8-16 with an optional 4-day extension for sightseeing.  The team will be working with Fundacion El Samaritano with whom Methodist teams have been working annually since 1997.  Work will focus on children in a Christian school operated by the foundation.   There will be additional humanitarian projects with maternity and women's oncology hospital visitations, and a children's feeding program at a Nicaragua Methodist church.  Time for worship, shopping, sightseeing will also be included.  The cost is $1450 per volunteer.  If you have questions about this mission or would like a brochure and application, contact Jack Reif at [email protected]  
15th Annual Summer Preaching Seminar, 
Featuring Dr. Marvin A. McMickle
Dayton, OH - United Theological Seminary is now registering for its 15th annual Summer Preaching Seminar, taking place Aug. 16-18 on United's campus at 4501 Denlinger Road, Dayton, OH. During this three-day preaching retreat, guest speaker Dr. Marvin A. McMickle, president of Colgate Rochester Theological Seminary, will guide participants through a rich experience in homiletics centered on the theme "Be My Witness: A Theology of Preaching for the 21st century."   Based on Acts 1:6-8, in which Jesus tells his disciples, "Be my witnesses," this year's Summer Preaching Seminar will challenge 21st century leaders to think about the content and context of their sermons through the lens of 1st century discipleship.
