One of the biggest lessons I have learned in church planting and in ministry as a whole is that if you aren't flexible, you're going to get frustrated really quickly. There's always something that just doesn't go the way you expected. Even in our short time together as a church, we've racked up some fun memories of having to go with the flow. Remember the time the fire alarm went off, not once, but TWICE during a sermon?! Maybe there was a Divine hint in that one that the sermon should have just ended. :-) Or remember when the AC went out, in the middle of summer, in the middle of one of the hottest summers we've ever had?! Or how about the lights recently, where usually, in the most intimate, quiet, sober moments of the sermon, the lights start shooting off like the 4th of July. Someone told me after a sermon in which the lights were particularly "happy," that they thought that somehow the sound/tech people were controlling them and were trying to tell me my time was up. :-) We've had some fun moments together of just having to be flexible and go with the flow, enjoying the little twists and turns life throws our way.
this Sunday, we have another opportunity to be flexible. Because of the fires that have been raging this week, a basketball tournament that was supposed to take place at another school cannot, and now will be held at Heritage
on Saturday. Because of that, the crew that was going to be setting up the gym
on Saturday for another concert
on Sunday night in the gym, now has to setup the gym
on Sunday morning because of the basketball tournament. So, that puts us in the exact same place we were last week: back in the library because of the gym needing to be setup for the concert. Another
Sunday, another opportunity to be flexible.
We ARE having Family Bible Hour this Sunday...so Family Bible Hour and our Worship Service will be in the Library!
I don't know about you, but I enjoyed our meeting together last week, unplugged, intimate, in the "upper room" discussing the Upper Room Discourse. So, we'll get another crack at it again
Sunday, another adventure together as a family.
With much love and thanksgiving for you all and your joyful flexibility,
