2018 Calendar Submissions Now Open!
Hey there, it's your Official Unofficial CBRR&R Calendar SpokesDog "Piper" here
calling all Chesapeakes.

We want YOU, er... Photos of you for our Calendar Contest; it's our biggest fundraiser of the year. So use some of that legendary Chesapeake assertiveness to get your humans to send us your pictures -- you could be famous! Upload them via our calendar contest website. Please be sure to include your name (we mean the dog!). Only two photo submissions per dog. No humans! Just dogs! (Don't you love that part?)

High resolution (300 dpi) horizontal photos are preferred. Vertical and low resolution photos may not be used at the discretion of the editors. Please make sure your photos meet this minimum requirement! We hate to say "no" to posting photos but to maintain the quality of the calendar, the photos must be high enough resolution.

Photo submissions are open now! Once submitted, a member of our team will make sure it fits the bill and will approve it for voting. Remember, you must be the owner of the photo or have copyright approval to submit it. And no humans, please!

Voting begins on Friday, July 14th and goes through October 15th at 9 p.m. CDT

And, back by popular demand is the "reserve a space" feature! For just $10 a date, you can reserve a special date with your CBR's photo on it! Dates are first come, first served.

Finally, you can also order your copy of the calendar while you are on the website. For just $25, the beautiful calendar will be sent to you upon completion. For multiple orders, or for any other questions, please email us at development@cbrrescue.org

Michel Carr Fund Established for
CBRR&R Dogs in Need
The Michel Carr Memorial Fund has been established in memory of Michel Carr. Miche, as he was known to his friends, was a long-term lover of the breed who tragically lost his life saving his beloved Bart (CH Rippling Waters Brown Bart) from icy, Iowa winter waters. In the wake of this tragedy, members of the Chesapeake Bay Retriever Relief and Rescue and the Chessie Community worked diligently to organize and execute a long-distance transport to move Bart from Iowa back to his breeder in Florida.

At the Carr Family's request, the Miche Carr Memorial Fund is established for and centered on Chesapeake Bay Retrievers who are in Rescue due to the loss or terminal illness of their owner and Senior (8+ years old) Chesapeake Bay Retrievers.

We received an update from Kathy Luthy on Rippling Waters Brown Bart, Miche's dog. " Bart is doing great. He finished his CH last spring in one cluster of shows. Miche had him trained so well that all I had to do was show up on the end of the leash!  It made me sad at first that Miche put in all the background work and I got to 'steal the thunder' so to speak. BUT, one of the ladies who helped out with Bart in Iowa and was a Miche co-worker, made me feel so much better by telling me that Miche "was doing cartwheels in heaven' when Bart finished.

"I started force fetch a couple of days ago.  He is so big, he looks pretty funny up on the table!  Not sure if I can do the puppy cookie handling games with him up there like I always do because of his size. He loves, loves, LOVES birds and really enjoys retrieving. He seems to have really good natural marking abilities and doesn't even cheat much."

Mac with his best friend, Jack!
Meet McKinley (Mac)
He's looking for his forever home!
Mac is being fostered in Suburban Chicago by Amy and Hank Olson. Amy says, "Mac is still doing great but it makes me a bit sad that no one is inquiring about him!" So, we decided to feature this boy in this quarter's newsletter.

McKinley is listed with special requirements because he is a runner. If let off leash outside a fenced area he will just go and he is almost impossible to catch. His forever home will need to have a 6 foot privacy fence to contain this adorable boy. He's working on his training and obedience and has improved significantly over the last few months.  "He is a wonderful dog who's world is a bit smaller due to his running. He is sweet and loving and great around the house."

We All Walk--CBRR&R Can Get Paid for it!
Walk for a Dog offers a unique and sustainable way to raise money for CBRR&R. Healthy for app users and dogs alike, Walk for a Dog helps you support and promote rescue just by  walking  your dog!

Donations are tied to the number of active walkers per organization in a given donation period. To maximize donations we encourage you to actively use the Walk for a Dog app.

An "active walker" is someone who records walks on the app at least once a week, so the more (and the more often) people are using the app, the more donations we can receive!

Simply download the Walk for a Dog app to your phone, register, select CBRR&R which is found in Virginia, and walk. You don't even half to have a dog! Use it while running, shopping, trotting around the office, or doing errands. It all adds up.

CBRR&R wins with Chewy.com
Order your Pet Food at Chewy.com and Chesapeake Bay Retriever Relief & Rescue will get a $20 donation!

Special funds to help some very special Brown Dogs
Every year CBRR&R helps hundreds of Chessies in need. However, sometimes, there are dogs that need a little extra help. These Chessies might suffer from injuries or chronic illnesses, while others have been badly abused or neglected. As a result, they need special medical treatment, behavioral training and nurturing before they can find their own 'forever' homes.

Please consider making a donation to one of our specially named accounts in honor or in memory of a special dog in your life.
