Mobile Devices: Formative Assessment
Formative assessment helps students learn what they know and what they need to know. There are many formative assessment tools available to conduct these assessments. In this workshop, you will explore different assessment tools and decide which tools work best for you. All the tools can be accessed by students, using their mobile devices. Participants will learn how to assess students learning before class, during class, and at the end of class and how to share these assessments with students. Time permitting, the presenter will share tips and tricks for getting students to create their own formative assessments.
OTAN trainer, Susan Gaer, will offer this workshop on Friday, April 7, 2017, from
9:00 AM to 12:00 PM,
at Glendale Community College - Garfield Campus.
Registration is still open to surrounding agencies.
Teaching Vocabulary with Technology
Adult students need a strong vocabulary foundation in order to develop their literacy and use their English effectively in their many roles: employees, parents, and community members. Learn a research-proven, six-step process infused with technology to help students not only better learn and retain vocabulary but also move new terminology into their productive vocabulary knowledge. Learn to use select resources appropriate to each step of direct vocabulary instruction.
