CCCR Proudly Endorses John Ratcliffe for Congress!

CCCR is pleased to announce our endorsement of former U.S. Attorney John Ratcliffe in his race to unseat incumbent U.S. Rep. Ralph Hall!

"The Collin County Conservative Republicans (CCCR) proudly endorse former U.S. Attorney John Ratcliffe for Congress in the 4th District," stated Derek V. Baker, President of CCCR.  "John is a proven conservative and has an impressive record of defending the Constitution, protecting liberty and being fiscally tough.  Like Ted Cruz, we see John being a fighter in Washington for repealing ObamaCare, stopping the out-of-control spending and standing up to President Obama's reckless agenda. We are proud to stand behind John Ratcliffe in his May 27th runoff election."

CCCR greatly appreciates the years of faithful service that Congressman Ralph Hall has provided to both Texas as an elected official, and our nation as a U.S. Navy pilot during World War II. However, our nation is at a crossroads and is in desperate need of bold, conservative leadership in Texas and in Washington, D.C.  We believe Mr. Ratcliffe is best equipped to fight for our limited government philosophy and stand up to both Democrats and Republicans in Washington who are undermining our Constitution.

We encourage voters in Collin County and all across the state to view the CCCR Candidate Questionnaires completed by numerous local and statewide candidates.   To review Mr. Ratcliffe's completed questionnaire, please click here.

About Our Vetting Process

Over the past several months, CCCR has repeatedly invited our members to participate in the upcoming vetting process, both in emails and verbal invitations during each monthly meeting. Ten individuals (some board members and some club members, but all in good standing and active in the club) stepped up to participate in this tedious but important process. Each person initially filled out a philosophy questionnaire as an extra measure of protection to ensure that their philosophy lined up with the stated philosophy and goals of the Club.  No one was turned down and we initiated the process in December.  Following are the basic steps we followed:
  1. Identify which races to vet and endorse in, given timing and limited resources
  2. Review and finalize custom questionnaires for each type of race
  3. Gather candidate information on every approved race and divide up races and candidates among vetting committee members to conduct additional research.
  4. Request that every candidate in each approved race complete a candidate questionnaire by a set deadline.
  5. Review all questionnaires submitted for each race, and conduct follow-up interviews of remaining conservative candidates as necessary.
  6. Review questionnaires, interviews, and other information obtained from research for each candidate within each race, then vote to endorse in each race (majority rules).
The broad guidelines we used in determining the best conservative candidate for each race was:
  • Philosophy - overall conservative philosophy, statements, voting record, past support and donations to other candidates, etc.
  • Qualifications - specific experience and qualifications related to the position or office sought
  • Competence - record of competence and success in past endeavors
  • Integrity - record of consistent honesty and integrity in public and private life
All candidate questionnaires received are available for review on our website.
