Marco Island suicide, attempts prompt mental health discussion: "A Marco Island woman died Dec. 13 after jumping off the S.S. Jolley Bridge in an apparent suicide. Nine days later, Marco Island police officers saved a man who they said was attempting to do the same. Dr. Rebekah Bernard recently joined the Foundation of CCMS board of directors as a board member. Dr. Bernard will work with the Board to raise and manage funds for healthcare scholarships and programs that address access to healthcare.

Dr. Alexander Eaton was highlighted in the Gulfshore Life article, How we waste money in medicine, as one who is "seeking to make a difference."

Dr. Steven Goldberg was inducted into the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) as a candidate member at its annual meeting in October. Dr. Goldberg is the first orthopedic surgeon in Collier or Lee county to receive this honor.

Dr. Evgeny Krynetskiy, orthopaedic surgeon has joined Seaside Surgery Center as a physician partner, specializing in foot and ankle surgery.

Dr. Alfonse Cinotti, Dr. Jerome Bobruff, and Dr. Renate Chevli represented the Naples Lions Club at the Collier County Board of Commissioners, which designated February 3, 2018 as Naples Lions Club Day in Collier County.

Dr. Joel Waltzer, founder of annual fundraiser YogaCAN, has received the Cancer Alliance of Naples' Jerry Conti Angel Award for 2018 for his commitment to the Cancer Alliance of Naples. The award will be presented at the Cancer Alliance of Naples annual spring luncheon, March 2 at the Ritz Carlton Golf Resort. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services recently released a memo clarifying its rules for physician texting. In summary:

 

- Texting patient information among members of the health care team is permissible if accomplished through a secure platform.

- Texting of patient orders is prohibited regardless of the platform utilized.

- Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE) is the preferred method of order entry by a provider.
