April Adoption Promotion

If you are one of the lucky (and wise) people who have cats in your home, you are getting help from your furry friends in handling stress.  Petting a cat is known to lower blood pressure, and contribute to a general feeling of well-being.  If you do not yet share your home with a pet, please think about adopting this month from the Cat Care Society.  In observance of National Stress Awareness Month, we are offering an adoption special on all cats one year and older!

Please visit our Facebook page for more information.

Visit our website to view all our cats available for adoption.

Note: our standard adoption  screening process applies to this promotion. Further, for cats age ten and older and cats with chronic medical problems we offer our Perpet-U-Care Program which provides
$250 of veterinary care services at the CCS Cat Clinic annually.
Opt To Adopt Ruby
Ruby is a loving senior looking for her forever home! Ruby had a difficult time adjusting to shelter life when she first arrived. She is coming out of her shell now and showing her affectionate side. She loves to greet you and crawl in your lap for petting. Ruby does not like to share the spotlight so she needs to be the only kitty.  She has been diagnosed with kidney disease and high blood pressure, and will need to eat a special prescription diet and take a medication for the rest of her life.  She also needs subcutaneous fluids several times a week, as well as a dietary supplement.  Despite her kidney disease Ruby still has lots of love to give to the right family!

Ruby is part of our Perpet-U-Care program.  Please click on the link below to learn more:

The Colfax Marathon
May 20-21, 2017
The Colfax Marathon is May 20-21, 2017
and this year you can support Cat Care Society!

Great news!  We have met our targeted goal of enough runners and walkers so that Cat Care Society can have a booth in the charity partner village at the Marathon.  These enthusiastic people all selected Cat Care as their supporting charity, and their participation will greatly benefit our cats.
Even though we have met the quota for a booth, we would love to have more runners and/or walkers participate.  Every entrant who signs up and designates Cat Care Society as their chosen charity will help ensure that we can continue our mission of helping homeless, neglected, and abused cats.
There are a variety of distances and routes to pick from.   Please check out the links for more information-there's a choice for everyone!
Call your friends and get a group together and register for the 2017 Colfax Marathon and support Cat Care Society on your registration!

Please don't forget to select Cat Care Society as your charity!
All proceeds from the Colfax Marathon will benefit the shelter cats with food, litter and medical care.

2017 Tails of the Painted Cats

Activities are now underway for our big event of the year, Tails of the Painted Cats Gala Dinner and Auction to be held September 16, 2017 at Pinehurst Country Club from 5 to 9 pm.

All 31 painted cats are now complete and ready to be viewed!  We also have "Flat Cat" paintings, "Clay Cats" pottery, and New This Year, the "Paper Cats" series. The Painted Cats Summer Tour begins early in May. The first showing of our artists' creations will be at the Art of Life Gallery, 800 South Jason St, Denver, on May 5th.  The gallery will host a reception with wine and light refreshments.  This reception also coincides with the First Friday Art Walk.  It will be a great opportunity to see the Painted Cats and learn more about them. The time will be announced soon.
Tails of the Painted Cats is our major fundraiser this year, and there are a number of ways to offer your support through sponsorship opportunities.  We welcome business as well as individual sponsors!  Click Here to learn more about our Sponsorship Packages.

There will be five showings of the cats throughout the summer.  Please watch our website and newsletters for details!

Perpet-U-Care Program
If you are thinking of adopting an older cat, or one with special needs, we have a program that will be very valuable to you and your pet.  When you adopt one of these cats, your new furry friend is automatically enrolled in the program.

Cat Care Society's Perpet-U-Care adoption program was developed to help our senior cats (age 10 and older) and cats with chronic medical conditions find new homes more quickly.  All cats, no matter the age, with these chronic health problems qualify:

  • Heart murmurs grade 4 and higher
  • Cardiomyopathy and heart disease
  • Stomatitis or advanced dental/gum disease
  • Chronic urinary tract infections and/or blockages
  • Hyperthyroidism
  • Diabetes
  • Chronic eye problems
Perpet-U-Care, unique to the industry, is similar to an insurance policy: Cat Care Society will cover the costs up to $250 per calendar year of free veterinary services at The Cat Clinic at Cat Care Society to help offset the costs of adopting an senior cat or a cat with chronic health problems. Perpet-U-Care does not cover the costs of annual wellness exams, vaccinations, euthanasia or cremation.

Nibbles & Kibbles
Food Bank
Nibbles 'n' Kibbles Donations
Cat Care Society maintains a food bank which offers free cat food and cat litter to people who are experiencing temporary financial challenges.  Nibbles & Kibbles Food Bank helps them continue to care for their cats, who may be one of their few comforts during this time. It also helps prevent pet owners from turning the cats loose on the streets, neglecting them, or taking them to a shelter.

We have partnered with The Action Center (formerly JeffCo Action Center) to provide vouchers. The Action Center distributes the vouchers to their clients who are in need of cat food and litter.

Nibbles & Kibbles Food Bank is open the first and third Saturday of each month in the lower level of the shelter.  Hours of operation are 10AM to noon.

The program is always in need of donations of dry and canned cat food, and litter.  Please mark your items clearly for the food bank.  Your donation is tax deductible and a receipt will be provided to you.
