CCS strives to engage students in owning their faith, applying Scripture to their life, and being equipped to share the good news of Jesus Christ to their culture. During Spiritual Emphasis Week for secondary students (held the first week of January), the AXIS Team from Colorado Springs addressed students during special assemblies. Kindergarten Preview January 24, 2012, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. in the elementary building. Prospective parents will be given important kindergarten information and hear testimonies from teachers, administrators, students, and parents. *Kindergarten parents may begin submitting applications on this date.
Northwest Private School Preview - January 29, 2012, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Northwest YMCA located on the corner of Cypresswood and 249. Visit the CCS booth!
Prospective K-12 Family Night Open House - February 16, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Prospective families will be given the opportunity to visit our campus and gather information. The evening will include a general assembly and private tour. *New student applications will be accepted on this date.

TEXAS HISTORY
This year's seventh grade history fair was entitled "Traditions that Make Texas Proud." Presentations were judged on such attributes as educational value, Biblical integration with topic, presentation skills, and creativity. Click here to read more, view photos, and find out who won!

Middle school drama students presented "Fractured Fairy Tales" in December.
CHOIR
CCS freshman, Dana Mickey, competed in the Texas Private School Music Educators Association (TPSMEA) annual All-State Choir Competition with approximately 120 sopranos in her division. She placed 37th, which made her eligible for the Regional Treble Choir.
ART
Students from Coach Bretz's seventh grade cartooning class participated in the 2011 "The Art of Friendship" contest. The theme for the contest was based on bringing different cultures and religions together to make the world a better place. All six of our students (Hannah Hurst, Abby Baldwin, Emily Boyd, Nick Consoli, Spencer Sager, Greyson Landrum) entered very strong original pieces and represented Cypress Christian School very well.

High school basketball began district play on Friday, January 6. Come on out and support our teams as the hunt for the post-season has officially begun and continues for the next six weeks. Middle school athletes will play through January 26. We hope to see you in the stands!
SPAGHETTI DINNER - JANUARY 13
The next home district games will be Friday, January 13. That evening, the basketball teams would like to invite you to come and dine with us in the multi-use facility and enjoy some great district basketball games. Dinner service will begin at 5 p.m. Games start at 4:30 p.m., 6 p.m., and 7:30 p.m., so dinner will continue until the end of the last game.The menu for the night is spaghetti and meatballs, salad, garlic bread, dessert, and a drink for incredibly low prices: Adults $6 and a Kid's Meal (under 12) for $4. All proceeds go to the Basketball Boosters. Come on out and support the basketball teams and enjoy a great meal.
SOCCER
The Boys Varsity Soccer Team showed they were ready for battle as they dominated the first two district games with impressive play by all members on the team.

Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day on February 8, 2012

CCS is excited to host another "Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day" this year on Wednesday, February 8, from 8:15-10:45 a.m. The event will include a time for the grandparents and special friends to visit in the classroom, attend chapel service, and enjoy a special reception.

Andrew Wynans ('04) graduated summa cum laude from South Texas College of Law in December 2011. He earned the title of "Valedictorian" for his class making him the highest ranked student among those graduating. He is the first CCS alumnus to graduate from law school. Andrew will take the bar exam in February 2012 and will intern for a justice in the Texas Supreme Court beginning in August 2012. He and Lindsey Simpson (shown in picture) will be married in April 2012. |
