CCT has chosen Frances Marinez as their Wellness Champion of the month!

Health Tip: My thing was to find something I enjoyed which helped keep me more motivated. I found mine with Zumba classes. I love the comradery and the music! I love when the instructors say "hey, we have a new song". The change feels "fresh"!

HSA Incentive Program

All Cochise County members enrolled in the High Deductible Health Plan have the opportunity to earn up to $500 per year to be contributed towards their HSA by participating in Wellness events and activities! 
Each quarter your earnings will be totaled and you will receive contribution towards your Health Savings Account.

Tobacco use is the nation’s number one cause of preventable death. In Arizona, the four leading causes of death are cancer, heart disease, stroke, and pulmonary disease. Tobacco use can be a cause in all of these.
The CCT ASHLINE program includes 6 behavior change coaching sessions over a 90-day period, along with tobacco cessation medications covered by the CCT Health Plan. The ASHLINE program will be covered at 100% for all CCT medical benefit plan members.

Did you know?
If you are a County employee on the High Deductible Health Plan and you complete the CCT ASHLINE Program, you can earn $250 towards your HSA.
American Heart Association's New Blood Pressure Guidelines
Don't let the new blood pressure guidelines raise yours
How strict are the new blood pressure guidelines?
  • Normal: Less than 120/80 mm Hg;
  • Elevated: Systolic between 120-129 and diastolic less than 80;
  • Stage 1: Systolic between 130-139 or diastolic between 80-89;
  • Stage 2: Systolic at least 140 or diastolic at least 90;
  • Hypertensive crisis: Systolic over 180 and/or diastolic over 120, with patients needing prompt changes in medication if there are no other indications of problems, or immediate hospitalization if there are signs of organ damage.
Knowledge is power, so use the new designation as motivation to make lifestyle changes, stay on top of your blood-pressure numbers and work with your health care provider to determine whether you need medication.
Prevent high blood pressure with a healthy lifestyle
Healthy lifestyle  habits can help prevent high blood pressure from developing, help reverse prehypertension and help control existing high blood pressure or prevent complications and long-term problems associated with this condition, such as coronary heart disease, stroke, or kidney disease.

Make changes that matter!
  • Eat a well-balanced, low salt diet
  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Be physically active
  • Drink alcohol only in moderation
  • Take prescribed drugs as directed
