CDA Sustainable Airport Manual (SAM) Acknowledged by WTS
CHICAGO, June 22, 2012 - The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) was one of several city, state and private agencies that were acknowledged today for outstanding leadership and innovations by the Women in Transportation Seminar (WTS) Greater Chicago Chapter.
CDA Commissioner Rosemarie S. Andolino accepted the Innovative Transportation Solutions Award for the CDA Sustainable Airport Manual (SAM) during the WTS 2012 Award Luncheon held at the Hilton Chicago Hotel.
The SAM is an innovative document and model for sustainable implementation at
airports around the world that contains case studies, best practices, lessons learned and new technologies from the experience of airports and environmental experts from around the globe.
"It is an honor to accept this award from a very outstanding organization," said
Commissioner Andolino. "The SAM is adaptable to virtually any type of project at airports of all sizes anywhere in the world. It is a living document that continues to evolve and grow with time."
Beth Osborne, Under Secretary for U.S. Department of Transportation, delivered the keynote remarks at the WTS luncheon.
The other awardees were
- Women of the Year: Kristi Lafleur, Executive Director, Illinois Tollway and Ann Schneider, Secretary, Illinois Department of Transportation
- Member of the Year: Noreen Ellis, Director of Marketing and Communications, Knight E/A
- Employer of the Year: Union Pacific Railroad
- Rosa Parks Award: Lisa Laws, Structural Designer, URS
