Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

Brief Model Mental Health Therapy Training, that is  officially recognized as an evidence-based treatment for psychological trauma and depression by the SAMHSA National Registry of Evidence Based Programs and Practices (NREPP) .  Accelerated Resolution Therapy ( ART ) is a combination of the best of well-known therapies such as Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioral, Guided Imagery, Psycho-dynamic and Eye Movement therapies.  ART utilizes a Voluntary Image/Memory Replacement (VIR/VMR) to assist clients in replacing negative images with positive ones. This presentation will explore the impact of dementia on the various domains of the brain and how that impacts the care relationship between individuals living with dementia and their care providers. Participants will gain an increased level of understanding of less recognized dementia-related symptoms and learn new approach strategies to improve their care skills.

Karen Alter-Reid, Ph.D and Big Oak Psychotherapy Training Institute are now offering Spring 2017 EMDRIA Approved EMDR Basic Training and consultation for the integration of this highly effective approach into clinical practice. As an EMDR Institute Regional Basic Trainer, Dr. Alter-Reid uses the EMDR Institute curriculum to provide clinicians with the knowledge and skills to use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy with a broad range of clients and clinical presentations. Trainings are provided in small groups of 14 or fewer. The training is a six day, two-weekend program, plus two 2 1/2 hour consultation groups, extended over approximately nine weeks.
