Drop-In Playgroup (multiple sessions)
Moms, Dads, and caretakers of young children... Come join Carol Carver - Early Childhood Support Specialist- from Self Help, Inc. Coordinated Family & Community Engagement Program.   Parents can chat together, children can engage in toys-music-and- manipulatives together, and everyone will have some FUN!!!  The Playgroup will run for approximately 45 minutes- with free play lasting  about 20 minutes and then songs, stories, simple art and parachute play will be offered towards the later part!  Come join us for these FUN GET-TOGETHERS with others!  ALL are Welcomed!!!

Story walk: "Going on a Nature Hike" @ Friendship Park (West Bridgewater)

Drop by for this parent-child activity. Weather Permitting. Drop by anytime with your child(ren) at the playground area at the Friendship Park in WB between 10:00 & 11:00 on May 10, 2018 to do a Story Walk!!!   Enjoy time to play at the playground and then when individual families are ready to start the walk they can sign in at the STARTING POINT SIGN on the outskirts of the playground area.    This will begin your FUN journey of combining a children's story with a walking route outdoors!!!  Feel free to bring a stroller if you'd like and we hope you participate at the end of the Story Walk by doing a related art project with your child(ren) or you can choose to  bring it home..  Questions, please contact Carol carver, ccarver@selfhelpinc.org

Toddler Play-N-Learn and Toddler Groups (multiple sessions)
The Toddler Groups are a FREE one hour play time for children ages 12 months to 30 months and their parent/guardian. Preschool play and learn in a monthly parent child group. Activities include free play, circle time and crafts. Each group offers floor and table activities. Sign up now- space is limited!!!   THUMBS UP TO PROBLEM SOLVING for the preschool aged children. Young children need adults to help them learn what is acceptable behavior and how to relate positively to others. We will focus on social skills and self discipline because we know that children who practice these behaviors are more successful in life. The activities for this storytelling time include songs, gross motor movement, art, stories, and puppets. A brief explanation of the topics that will be introduced to the group are mentioned below: Feelings, How our bodies and faces change depending on what we are feeling and to understand that all feelings are OK, Use our Words/Signs to Problem Solve and Let's Work Together & Cooperate. Parents will sit with their child during the circle time interaction and will have time to converse with others after program is finished!
Color My World with Science (multiple sessions)

 each family will leave with a cd and songbook to take home. In addition on week 2 and 3 families will leave with  new children's books to add to your home library. Take a magic carpet ride after school with Ms.  Marsha  at the Magic Carpet Book Club.  We will learn about a variety of topics in this monthly group including social justice, different cultures, and other topics of interest to children through books, short videos, and arts and crafts.  Each month we will take a journey through books and learn about our amazing world past and present.   Parents will receive handouts detailing what was covered in group and how to extend the learning at home.   This activity is for school age children grades k-4.  In November we will explore the world of Native Americans.  The children will be asked for input on topics for the remainder of the year. Discovery Workshop (multiple sessions)
Discovery Workshops are monthly parent/child activities for school aged children. Each workshop will focus on a new topic. Topics range from science-history-art. This program is appropriate for children in grades K-4th grade.  Registration information below.

Animal Art (multiple sessions)
REGISTER for this parent/child activity with the appropriate library below, for you and your school aged child. School age children and parents will come together and use games and manipulatives that are out on the tables as everyone gathers. Circle time will include- trivia facts about the particular animal, did you know facts, stories, etc. Then , with use of paints, they will create an art project which will be a different animal every month. The paint tools they will be mainly using are their hands!!! Each creation is unique and special!!! Parent Talks: Real Conversations About Our Most Important Job! @ Dedham Public Library

This two session series will be offered at the Dedham Public Library form 6:30-8 on the following dates: Thursday April 26th, and Thursday May 24th. In this series parents will get together and share ideas and strategies that help strengthen their families and made the job of parenting easier.
