CFMA VOS Chapter Updates
June 1, 2015
May 19 Education Forum a Resounding Success
Attendees treated to great speakers!

A huge congratulations goes out to Marj Weber & Nancy Palmer, along with the rest of the Education Committee for organizing yet another information filled day at this year's Education Forum.

Topics covered ranged from Affordable Care, TPT (yes...again...), Cybersecurity, Tech Updates and Contracts. 52 attendees were treated to a variety of local and national speakers while earning 8 CEU's for the day.

The highlight of the event was without a doubt Anirban Basu's "The Pit and the Pendulum" presentation at lunch.  It was truly an honor to have such an acclaimed economist and speaker here at our local chapter - and despite the "horror film" theme it wasn't all bad news!  Who knew that an economist could make a crowd not only laugh - but also blush!

National Award Recipients
Congratulations to two of our very own!

The most exciting part of the Education Forum was the announcement that the Valley of the Sun chapter has not one, but two, national CFMA member award winners.  David James is the 2015 Joe Quigley Memorial Award recipient - a well deserved recognition of the huge contributions he has made to our chapter along with the Arizona construction community as a whole with his work on the TPT issues.  Marj Weber will be receiving the 2015 Debra Hahn Memorial Award that honors her contributions at both the chapter as well as national level, where she serves on several committees including conference planning, along with her work with the ICCIFP.

Both Marj and Dave will receive their awards at the National Conference in Chicago - which will not only be a proud moment for them, but for our chapter as a whole!

Community Service
Bring donations to the June lunch!

The VoS Community Service Committee has planned to partner with UMOM on their Back-to-School Drive.  We will be collecting school supplies, gift cards, or financial donations for UMOM to use to equip their student residents for the upcoming school year.  The list can be found here for requested items.  E-mail Michelle Walker with any questions or to make donation arrangements if you're unavailable to attend the June lunch!
