ECHA has received the first application for Authorisation for Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP)
14 August 2013, ECHA has received the first application for authorisation under the REACH Regulation. The application, made by Rolls-Royce plc., concerns the substance Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP). More info can be found here.

China MEP to Approve 6 Typical Notifications of New Substances in August
18 Aug 2013, China MEP has issued one notice this month to approve another 6 typical notifications of new substances. The registrants are Seiko Epson Corp, Toyocolor Co, Juhua Group Corp, Firmenich, Dow and Evonik. The latest statistics can be found at CIRS's China New Substance Registration Watch.

China to Approve 4 More New Food Contact Additives
15 Aug 2013, The National Health and Family Planning Commission of People's Republic of China (formerly the Ministry of Health) has published a notice inviting comments on the approval of 4 new food contact additives and enlarge the application scope of 3 existing additives.

China has repealed the registration requirements of some disinfectant and disinfection devices.
31 July 2013, The National Health and Family Planning Commission of People's Republic of China (formerly the Ministry of Health) has published its notice No. 1[2013] to repeal the registration requirements of some disinfectant and disinfection devices. From now on, only "new" disinfectant or disinfection devices which utilize new materials, new technological process or new sterilizing mechanisms will require administrative approval prior to being placed on Chinese market.

Tips This Month
1. Did you know that some substances in Korean existing chemical inventory(KECI) are confidential? Those substances are only given in category names and you have to submit a request to KCMA to get their confirmation whether your substance name matches any category name in the inventory.
2. Did you know that cosmetic ingredients exported to Korea or Japan do not require new substance notification if they are not listed on KECI or ENCS?
