- Tommy Edwards recently joined Communities in Schools of Central Texas as the new XY-Zone Coordinator at LBJ High School. Tommy graduated from Texas State University, and plans to bring a strong sense of passion and connection to the students he will be working with.
- Shane Tanner will start on Monday 8/13 as the new XY-Zone Coordinator at Del Valle. Shane has his Master of Arts in Counseling, and has done a lot of great work with students in career counseling and supporting them through major life decisions. He’s excited to bring this focus on post-secondary plans to his work with the XY-Zone brotherhood!
- Hilary Handy will be starting on Monday 8/13 as the new PM at Lockhart High School. For the past year Hilary was a site coordinator at an elementary school with CIS South Central Texas, and also has great experience as a Teen Advocacy Specialist with CASA of Travis County. She loves the Lockhart community and is excited to bring her experience with CIS and passion for teens together in this new role!
- Aldo Gardea has transitioned from XY-Zone Coordinator in Manor to the PM of the new Manor Senior High School – he obviously brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position! We’re thrilled that he’ll be able to continue relationships with some of his XY-Zone students in this new role, and also help bring the CIS passion and philosophy to a new campus!
- Ali Mills has transitioned from PM of IDEA Allan to Garza High School – and is already proving to be such a great fit for that campus! She brings a wealth of knowledge to the position, and her passion for ensuring students have access to high quality therapeutic services in an educational setting are the perfect match for Garza.
- Marianna Martinez is the new PM at Andrews Elementary. Marianna brings 20 years of experience as a district social worker in Manor ISD with her to CIS. Please welcome Marianna to the Elementary team!
- Cassandra Jackson is the new PM at Hemphill Elementary. Cassandra is a three-year CIS AmeriCorps alumna who served at Hemphill throughout her AmeriCorps career. Please welcome Cassandra to the Elementary team!

Rackspace E-mail Accounts Will be Disabled August 31
If you are currently missing e-mails from the move to Office 365 please submit an IT help ticket as soon as possible. August 31
st
will be the cutoff date for accessing old mail boxes at Rackspace.
This will have no effect on staff mailboxes that are now with Microsoft.
If you currently have an outstanding IT ticket about retrieving e-mails from your old mailbox, please follow up on it by Wednesday August 22
nd
. This will provide our IT service enough time to address outstanding issues.

"Pro Tip” Preventing email bounce backs since the email migration over the summer
Bounce backs seem to only happen if you use an auto-filled email address. It doesn’t happen if you type the email out completely or use the “to” box to pick from the address book.
You only have to do it once, but the fix is outlined:
Click
New mail
(in Outlook) or
New Email
(in Outlook on the web).
· In the
To
box, start typing the recipient's name or email address until the recipient's name appears in the drop-down list.
· Use the
Down Arrow
and
Up Arrow
keys to select the recipient, and then press the
Delete
key to delete the Auto-Complete List entry.

Wellness Challenge
Wellness Committee encourages you to focus on your personal wellness goals to keep your mind, body and soul healthy and happy for the new school year! You may use
this form
to digitally track your self-care activities, which can be anything from reading a book to hitting the gym. Submit your completed form by the end of the month to

to be entered for a chance to win a $20 gift card! The winning entry will be drawn on the 5
th
of each month. Participants throughout the year will be eligible for a grand prize drawing of $100 in June.
Wellness Kits
The Wellness Committee is excited to provide wellness kits for your campus, which this year includes a squishy stress ball, a stress band and a fidget item. If you didn’t get a chance to pick up your campus wellness kit at All Staff, your kit has been placed in your mail box. All central staff also should have a received a stress squishy ball in your mailbox. The Wellness Committee encourages you to destress and take moment to care for yourself. We hope that the wellness kits encourage positive energy for you and your students!

Food For Thought Volunteer Sign Up
Food For Thought is scheduled for September 20th at ACL Live. The event is Communities In Schools’ largest fundraiser. Last year we raised over $670,000, thanks in large to our fabulous volunteers who make the annual event possible. The event is a fun, elegant tasting benefit featuring Austin’s hottest restaurants, live music and an exciting live auction. To thank you for your volunteer service, we would like to invite volunteers attend the event for free (a $250 value)!
