News   |   Calendar   |   Reminders   |   Community Bulletin

This week, we began the season of Lent as a school community with the celebration of Mass on Ash Wednesday. (Maybe you saw our photo on Facebook!)

Fr. Matt talked about the day's Gospel message when Jesus spoke about almsgiving, prayer and fasting, and the way in which they were to be performed. Fr. Matt reminded us that we all have something to give, especially our time. And, when we are "doing the right things" like prayer and fasting, maybe we could take a moment to make sure that our hearts are involved. Or, are we praying and fasting for show, even fooling ourselves sometimes?

Between now and Easter break, CJ will be offering several events and opportunities to not only our students, but to our parents and community to give of their time. Many of these events take place every year, but following Fr. Matt's advice, maybe we could take a fresh look at these "right things" and involve our hearts in making the decision to participate, to build community.

Parent dances, the CJ Blood Drive, the CJ Fish Fry, and even reviewing your child's course request for next year are a few ways that your time makes a difference. The Parent Weekly will continue to post more ways that parents can become involved or participate in the CJ community.

In addition to these opportunities, we will also be posting ideas for Lenten prayer and reflections as a resource. We start by sharing this week's Lenten reflection by Sr. Mary Ann Barnhorn, SNDdeN.

We look forward to walking through this season of Lent with our students - and with you! It is a season filled with opportunities to challenge ourselves and grow in our faith.
