Dear CLSA Members,

I would like to update you on the upcoming Vision Expo Meetings East & West 2018.  Although the Contact Lens Society of America initially planned to participate in OptiCon@Vision Expo, it has been determined by the CLSA Board of Directors that this will not be possible this year.

Unfortunately, CLSA and OptiCon were not able to agree on terms that would have allowed us to provide the high quality contact lens education expected by our members in opticianry, optometry, ophthalmology, and industry. As a prerequisite to participating in OptiCon@Vision Expo, CLSA was asked to sign a contract that would have prevented us from providing educational content at any other national venue, a limitation that we feel is in conflict with our mission, our values, and our commitment to our membership.

Furthermore, there was no opportunity for CLSA to develop the Contact Lens courses that would have constituted the Contact Lens Track at OptiCon@Vision Expo 2018. Needless to say, CLSA must always be able to vet the education that we provide or endorse.

Although this was a very difficult decision, we feel that the integrity of CLSA education is too important to compromise, even in the face of lost revenue. Our Society’s objective is to provide the education, resources, and services that help our members provide excellent care and the best possible outcomes for the patients we ultimately serve.

I hope you will agree that the decision we made was the best for ensuring the future vitality of CLSA and the uncompromised execution of our mission as an organization.

As always, we are here to support you, our members. Please let us know if you have any questions or comments - [email protected]

Best regards,
Wendy Ford
