What are the FLIP Alliance Universities? They are the Universities that produce a majority of the computer science faculty at research universities.
The FLIP Alliance Universities are committed to provide and actively participate in programs that help recruit, retain and develop students from underrepresented groups. The FLIP Alliance Universities invite everyone in the CMD-IT community interested in graduate school to apply to their graduate programs.

Maximizing Your Networking at
Tapia 2018

Attending any conference provides an opportunity to expand and strengthen your network. 2018 NSBC and BDPA
Joint Conference

For the first time the
BDPA (Black Data Processing Associates) and
NSBC (National Society of Blacks in Computing) Conferences co-located from August 9 -11 in New Orleans, LA.
The intent was to provide NSBC students access to industry partners and provide BDPA members access to academia. Both groups attendees, 550 in total, benefited from great integrated experiences and outcomes.

Highlights included 7 powerful tracks on the following topics: BDPA Digital, Analytics, Cybersecurity and Cloud, Machine Learning, Career and Leadership, BDPA Leadership, and Academia. The career fair featured 40 industry partners. Keynote speakers included:
- Larry Quinlan, CIO, Deloitte
- Fay Cobb Payton, Program Director, NSF
- Juan Gilbert, Andrew Banks Family Preeminence Endowed Professor and Chair, University of Florida
- Joel Branch, Director of Platform Development and AI Architect, Lucd, Inc.
- Melvin Greer, Chief Data Scientist, Intel Corporation
- Navarrow Wright, Chief Technology Officer, Reelio.
"There is power in the strength of experiences. The co-location and shared experiences of BDPA and NSBC created energy that will fuel both organizations for years to come," said Terry Morris, BDPA National President.
