CMH Family Medicine Residency Program

Welcomes Four Residents Recently

 

Four first-year resident physicians have joined the CMH Regional Health System/University of Cincinnati Family Medicine Residency Program in the last few months.

 

They are Dr. Sherry Adkins, Dr. Saurabh Basundhra, Dr. Rodel Cacas and Dr. Jordan Williams.

Dr. Adkins graduated from the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton. She completed the Boonshoft Physician Leadership Development Program and earned a master's degree in public health degree along with her medical degree.   During medical school she earned the Boonshoft Leadership Scholarship, Dr. John C. Gillen Scholarship, and the Harry G. Thomas Medical School Scholarship. She completed her undergraduate degree in neuroscience/biology at Oberlin College. She enjoys baking, hiking, and spending time with her family. She and her husband, Matt, reside in Kettering.

 

 Dr. Basundhra graduated from the Medical University of the Americas in Belize after completing a degree in neurology/psychology from the University of Toronto. His interests include soccer, archery, fishing, jogging, and building computers. He also enjoys photography and spending time with his wife, Aleena, who is also a physician and with his family and friends.  Dr. Basundhra's hometown is Markham, Ontario, Canada.  

 

Dr. Cacas is a graduate of Saba University School of Medicine in the Netherlands-Antilles. During medical school he served as class president for his first three semesters. Dr. Cacas also earned a master's degree in business administration degree from Davenport University, Grand Rapids, Mich. His undergraduate degree was in chemistry from the University of Tennessee. Dr. Cacas enjoys bodybuilding, riding his bicycle on long treks with his wife, Candice, and son, Neil, and playing guitar. Dr. Cacas's hometown is Jackson, Tenn. His wife's family lives in Hamilton, Ohio.

 

 Dr. Williams is a graduate of St. Matthew's University School of Medicine in the Grand Cayman Islands. During medical school he participated in student government and honor society. He did his undergraduate studies in biology at the University of Texas. In his free time he loves coaching and officiating baseball, and is very passionate about music. Dr. Williams is from Longview, Texas.

 

The CMH Family Medicine Residency Program is based at the CMH Family Health Center, 825 W. Locust Street, Wilmington. The program is an affiliation between CMH Regional Health System/Clinton Memorial Hospital and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. The three-year program is in its 14th year.

 

The program has graduated more than 50 physicians, many of whom have started their first practice locally. Graduates currently on the CMH Medical Staff include Dr. Deanna Allgeyer, Dr. Glenn Rogers, Dr. Rachel Sneed, Dr. Shawn Swick, Dr.Tahirah Tyrell and Dr. Tony Wetherington.

 

Though originally conceived to train physicians to practice in rural areas, the program has a proven track record of preparing family physicians to practice in any environment, according to Dr. Ed Onusko, director of the program.
