Certificate of Musical Achievement in Piano Evaluation Date Announced for May 6, 2018
In 2017, CMS piloted a Certificate of Musical Achievement Program in Piano, under the direction of Dr. Holly Roadfeldt & with financial support from the George R. Schermerhorn Family Fund. Students of all levels showed their yearly progress by performing two pieces (3-15 minutes) & technical studies for a panel of judges, who provided encouraging comments about their pieces & their technique. The CMS CMA curriculum is designed with levels 1-12 to strengthen motivation and a provide a sense of accomplishment in students’ music studies. This year's piano evaluations will be held Sunday, May 6, 2018, and the deadline for applications is Wednesday, April 25, 2018.

Gala Auditions Scheduled for May 19
Each spring, CMS teachers recommend a limited number of high-performing students for an audition before an independent panel of judges, who evaluate their musical performance using predetermined criteria. Students with the highest scores are invited to perform in the year-end GALA recital, and may receive merit-based scholarships toward continued study at CMS. Students should discuss this opportunity with their teacher. Teachers must submit applications to the office by Tuesday, May 1. Click here for more information...

CMS Faculty Member, Dr. Holly Roadfeldt performs on new album by Mara Gibson
"Dr. Roadfeldt’s recording of Mara Gibson's Conundrums can be heard on Sky-Born, a CD released by PARMA Recordings November 2017. Her performance was noted by the Winnipeg Free Press (“performed with conviction”), the Italian press Kathodic (“performing timbres of daring virtuosity”) and Spain’s Sonograma, which reminded readers that she was “known perfectly by her seductive preludes project” (Dr. Roadfeldt’s Solo CD)"

CMS participates in Berks VNA Festival of Trees
RMF Affiliate Christmas Tree closeup.JPG
"A Musical Christmas" Tree in Reading
In December, CMS joined with other Reading Musical Foundation affiliates to create "A Musical Christmas" tree for the Berks VNA's Festival of Trees fundraiser at The DoubleTree by Hilton in Reading. The tree featured handmade music-themed ornaments and gift certificates for member organizations' holiday concerts, and sold at silent auction for $701. Great job to all who had a hand in creating this beautiful tree!
