COA Bylaw Change
May 21, 2018

Dear Colleague,

You are being asked to consider changes to the COA's bylaws. Below, please find for your consideration, a summary of the proposed changes:

  1. Change to Classes of Members: Article 4 has been amended to add a new Category, Active International. This new category is a voting class of member and includes orthopaedic surgeons who are Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) certified but are working and residing outside of Canada. Also amended in Article 4 is the addition of a new non-voting Category, International Affiliate. This new category is defined as orthopaedic surgeons who are non-residents of Canada and who have not been FRCSC certified. The existing Overseas Category of membership is deleted with this amendment. Please refer to the amended bylaws for details.
  2. Change to article 6 - Officers: Amendment of bylaws.  A new officer position has been created in the form of an Executive Committee Member-at-large and the second immediate Past President position has been eliminated.

The complete new bylaws can be reviewed by clicking on the link below.
The Members will consider this proposal at the Annual Business Meeting of the COA on June 21, 2018 at The Victoria Conference Centre in Victoria, BC at 1630 PDT.
  1. If you are unable to attend this meeting, it would be appreciated if you would mail your signed resolution to the COA office by the deadline of June 4, 2018.
  2. Alternately, you may appoint another person to act on your behalf by properly executing the witnessed proxy and supplying it to the presiding officer at the meeting.

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions. I look forward to seeing you in Victoria.
Yours truly,

Kishore Mulpuri, MBBS; MS (Ortho); MHSc (Epi)
Secretary
