The COA has the honour each year of recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to orthopaedic surgery in Canada and the care of Canadians. These awards are presented at the COA’s Annual Meeting by the President of the Association.
Nominations for the Award of Merit and the Presidential Award for Excellence are being accepted from the membership until
December 15, 2017.
The
Award of Merit
is presented for excellence in at least two of the following areas:
- service to the profession in the field of medical organization as it relates to orthopaedic surgery specifically;
- service to the people of Canada in raising the standards of orthopaedic care;
- personal contributions to the advancement of orthopaedic research, orthopaedic education, health care organization or orthopaedic education of the public.
Nominees for the Award of Merit
do not necessarily
have to be a member of the COA.
The
Presidential Award for Excellence
is presented for excellence in at least two of the following areas:
- service to the profession in the field of orthopaedic surgery;
- service to the people of Canada in raising the standards of orthopaedic care;
- personal contributions to the advancement of the art and science of orthopaedic surgery.
Nominees for the
Presidential Award for Excellence
must be a member
in good standing of the COA.
