Autumn greetings,

A couple of weeks back, we had the pleasure of presenting the Manhattan Short Festival -- over 4 nights, over 500 Vineyarders attended and voted -- and again we voted the Best Film of the festival with the rest of the world --   "Two Strangers Who Meet Five Times" written and directed by Marcus Marcou (UK) was crowned the Gold Medal Winner of the 21st Annual MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival. The Silver Medal went to "Chuchotage" with the Bronze Medal going to "Baghead". The Gold Medal for Best Actor went to Felix Grenier for his breakout performance in (Fauve) .

MET OPERA LIVE - SAMSON ET DALILA returns this Saturday with  Saint-Saëns 's biblical epic "Samson et Dalila" stars  Elīna Garanča  and  Roberto Alagna  in the title roles; the pair was last seen together in the MET's 2010 Bizet's Carmen.  As a special treat -- we'll have our own live opera when  Adele Dryer (piano) and Martha Hudson will perform one of the arias from Samson et Dalila this Saturday in the MV Film Center lobby at 12:30pm, prior to the MET performance. Martha will perform the aria "Mon coeur s'ouvre a ta voix" from Samson et Dalila.

Opening this Friday -- COLETTE  is a thoroughly entertaining biopic and an overdue testament to Keira Knightley's underrated gifts.   After marrying a successful Parisian writer known commonly as "Willy" (Dominic West), Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette (Keira Knightley) is transplanted from her childhood home in rural France to the intellectual and artistic splendor of Paris.  Colette's fight over creative ownership and gender roles drives her to overcome societal constraints, revolutionizing literature, fashion and sexual expression.

Love a good musical? We have FUNNY GIRL - for one night only!  Praised by critics as having "irresistible charm, wit and warmth", and hailing Sheridan Smith as "the greatest star by far" (The Daily Telegraph), Funny Girl features a host of iconic and timeless musical numbers including "People," "I'm the Greatest Star," and "Don't Rain On My Parade."  Captured live from the Savoy Theater, London earlier this year.

And continuing this week...

What happens when four legends of British stage and screen get together for tea? Dame Maggie Smith, Dame Judi Dench, Dame Eileen Atkins, and Dame Joan Plowright are among the most celebrated actresses of our time.  TEA WITH THE DAMES proves there's plenty of entertainment value to be found in rounding up a quartet of screen legends for a chat -- and is likely to leave audiences wishing these stars would keep brewing up pots for an ongoing series.

FAHRENHEIT 11/9 finds filmmaker Michael Moore in fine fighting form, delivering a political call to action that ranks among his most effective works. "Fahrenheit 11/9" is a provocative and comedic look at the times in which we live. It will explore the two most important questions of the Trump Era: How the f**k did we get here, and how the f**k do we get out?

See you at the movies!

"Moore hasn't lost his fire, or his touch for poking us in our collective consciousness (and consciences) to say, WAKE UP."

Filmmaker Michael Moore predicted that Donald Trump would become the 45th president of the United States. Traveling across the country, Moore interviews American citizens to get a sense of the social, economic and political impact of Trump's victory. Moore also takes an in-depth look at the media, t he Electoral College, the government agenda and his hometown of Flint, Mich.

TEA WITH THE DAMES is a unique celebration of the lives and careers of four of our most iconic actresses; Dame Eileen Atkins, Dame Judi Dench, Dame Joan Plowright and Dame Maggie Smith. All four have gone from being fledgling actresses in the 1950s to acting royalty. They've watched each other's careers grow and bloom and have celebrated life's ups and downs together. TEA WITH THE DAMES invites you to spend time with these acting legends as they talk about their lives and their professional experiences across theatre, television, and film. Directed by Roger Michell (My Cousin Rachel, Notting Hill), the film also includes a range of astonishing archive material. Candid, funny, caustic, irreverent, poignant and utterly engrossing, this unmissable release is proof that there is truly nothing like a Dame.

Paris COLETTE
After marrying a successful Parisian writer known commonly as "Willy" (Dominic West), Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette (Keira Knightley) is transplanted from her childhood home in rural France to the intellectual and artistic splendor of Paris. Soon after, Willy convinces Colette to ghostwrite for him. She pens a semi-autobiographical novel about a witty and brazen country girl named Claudine, sparking a bestseller and a cultural sensation. After its success, Colette and Willy become the talk of Paris and their adventures inspire additional Claudine novels.

Colette's fight over creative ownership and gender roles drives her to overcome societal constraints, revolutionizing literature, fashion and sexual expression.
