COMBATE AMÉRICAS FIRMA A LA PRIMERA BOXEADORA  CAMPEONA MUNDIAL DE CINCO DIVISIONES AMANDA SERRANO


La estrella boxística libra-por-libra espera hacer su anticipado debut en las MMA bajo la primera franquicia hispana


NUEVA YORK - 11 de enero, 2018 - Combate Américas hoy anunció la firma de la cinco veces campeona mundial de boxeo, siendo monarca del peso gallo (118lbs) del World Boxing Organization (WBO), Amanda "The Real Deal" Serrano (Boxeo: 31-1-1, 26 KO's ; MMA: 0-0) en un contrato promocional multi-anual.

La única dama en la historia, al igual que la única persona en Puerto Rico en ganar cinco títulos mundiales en cinco divisiones diferentes, Serrano de 29 años nació en California, Puerto Rico y pelea representando a Brooklyn, N.Y. La boricua hará su debut de artes marciales mixtas (MMA) en La Jaula de Combate Américas en marzo, fecha por anunciarse.

"Estamos emocionados por traer a Amanda Serrano, una de las más entretenidas superestrellas del boxeo a la familia de Combate Américas, y vemos con buenos ojos el hecho de ubicarla en el plano mundial, en la primera propiedad deportiva con 21 países hispanohablantes a nivel internacional", dijo Campbell McLaren, CEO de Combate Américas.

Serrano, una TOP-10 libra-por-libra, continuará su increíble carrera boxística bajo el sello de DiBella Entertainment, e intentará convertirse en la primera atlet en la historia en conquistar simultáneamente títulos mundiales de MMA y boxeo.

Serrano conquistó su primer título mundial a los 22 años, se trata del cinturón super-pluma del International Boxing Federation (IBF), con un nocaut a Kimberly Connor en el segundo round de una disputa realizada el 10 de septiembre de 2011.

Desde entonces, ha escalado en los rankings en otras cuatro divisiones, subiendo desde peso gallo a peso ligero (135 libras), y recientemente consiguiendo un TKO en el primer round ante Marilyn Hernández el 4 de noviembre de 2017.

Serrano ha sido inspirada para cambiar de disciplina por la retirada campeona de MMA Miesha Tate, quien se ha convertido en la co-manager de Serrano.

Combate Américas viene de un año estandarte, produciendo remarcables ratings televisivos en Estados Unidos, México y España, incluyendo los dos primeros eventos de MMA de Telemundo en la historia, generando la mayor sintonía de cualquier show de MMA hispano en Estados Unidos en verano y otoño de 2017, así como también con 6.9 millones de televidentes para un episodio en la serie televisiva semanal a través de TV Azteca en México.

AMANDA SERRANO


Pound-for-pound boxing phenom set to make her 
much-anticipated MMA debut for world's premier Hispanic MMA sports franchise  

 
NEW YORK - January 11, 2018  - Combate Americas today announced the signing of five-division world boxing champion, including reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight (118 pounds) champion, Amanda "The Real Deal" Serrano (Boxing: 34-1-1, 26 KO's; MMA: 0-0) to an exclusive, multi-year promotional agreement.

The only female fighter in history as well as the only Puerto Rican competitor ever to win five world titles in five different weight divisions, the 29-year-old Serrano who was born in Carolina, Puerto Rico and fights out of Brooklyn, N.Y., will make her Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) debut in La Jaula, the Combate Americas cage, on a March date to be announced soon.

"We are excited to bring Amanda Serrano, one of boxing's most exciting superstars into the Combate Americas familia, and look forward to placing her on a global stage that is the premier sports property in 21 Spanish speaking countries worldwide," said Combate Americas CEO Campbell McLaren. 

Serrano, a top 10 pound-for-pound fighter, will continue her burgeoning boxing career under the promotion of DiBella Entertainment, and attempt to become the first athlete in history to simultaneously hold world titles in MMA and boxing.

Serrano captured her first major world title, the International Boxing Federation (IBF) super featherweight crown, at just 22 years old, with a brutal, second-round knockout of Kimberly Connor on September 10, 2011.

She has since torn through the ranks of fighters in four other weight divisions, ranging from bantamweight to lightweight (135 pounds), and most recently scored a first round TKO on Marilyn Hernandez on November 4, 2017.

Serrano was inspired to cross over to the world of MMA by retired world champion Miesha Tate, who has since become Serrano's co-manager.

Combate Americas is coming off a banner year, producing remarkable television ratings in the U.S., Mexico and Spain, including the first two Telemundo MMA events in history that generated the highest ratings of any Spanish language MMA shows in the U.S. in the summer and fall of 2017, and as many as 6.9 million viewers for one episode of its weekly television series on TV Azteca in Mexico.
