NOMBRA A NICDALI RIVERA-CALANOC COMO DIRECTORA DE COMBATES


   
La ex-campeona mundial de MMA se convierte en la primera mexicana-americana en liderar el "matchmaking" para una franquicia de deportes de combate.

NUEVA YORK - 13 de julio, 2017 -  Combate Américas ha nombrado a la retirada ex-campeona mundial de artes marciales mixtas (MMA),  Nicdali Rivera-Calanoc , como directora de combates en la franquicia deportiva hispana.

La designación convierte a Rivera-Calanoc en la primera mexicana-americana en tomar la responsabilidad de reclutar talento y pautar las disputas (matchmaking) en una organización de deportes de combate.

Erradicada en Las Vegas, Nevada, Rivera-Calanoc, compañera de la ex-campeona mundial del Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Miesha Tate, será la responsable de manejar el creciente campo de mujeres atletas que compiten en Combate Américas, dentro de Estados Unidos y de forma internacional en Latinoamérica.

De igual forma, también participa en los procesos de reclutamiento y matchmaking en la división masculina de Combate Américas.

"Estamos felices de darle la bienvenida a Nicdali Rivera-Calanoc a nuestro creciente equipo de ejecutivos", comentó el CEO de Combate Américas y co-fundador del Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Campbell McLaren.

"Nicdali ha sido una destacable profesional dentro y fuera de la competición, y estamos seguros de que su vasta experiencia como atleta profesional, será un conductor al éxito, trabajando con la nueva generación del deporte en que Combate Américas está invirtiendo".

Rivera-Calanoc ha hecho historia con Combate Américas en dos ocasiones: compitiendo en el primer evento televisado de la franquicia en Estados Unidos, realizado en Las Vegas (2015); así como también durante la primera cartelera en México, el pasado mes de enero con Miesha Tate en su esquina.

Veterana con 10 años de experiencia profesional en las MMA, Rivera-Calanoc ha sido ranqueada entre las 10 primeras peleadoras del mundo en tres categorías diferentes: peso mosca (125 libras), peso paja (115 libras) y peso átomo (105 libras); todo esto en fases diferentes de su nutrida carrera.

El 23 de agosto (2008), Rivera-Calanoc fue coronada como campeona mundial tras derrotar a Shawn Tamaribuchi por decisión unánime en una disputa de pesos moscas, realizada en Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Nacida en Chihuaha, México; Rivera-Calanoc emigró a los Estados Unidos a los cinco años de edad con su familia, fue criada en Tulsa, Oklahoma. Posteriormente regresó a su ciudad natal hasta los últimos años de su adolescencia.

Former MMA world champion becomes the first Mexican American woman 
In history to lead matchmaking efforts for a combat sports franchise

NEW YORK - July 13, 2017 - Combate Americas has named retired, former women's Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) world champion Nicdali Rivera-Calanoc, a Fight Director for the Hispanic sports and media franchise.
 
The appointment makes Rivera-Calanoc the first Mexican American woman in history to be charged with leading recruitment and matchmaking efforts for a combat sports organization. 
 
Based in Las Vegas, Nev., Rivera-Calanoc, a training partner of former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) world champion Miesha Tate, will be responsible for managing the rapidly expanding field of women athletes that compete for the Combate Americas live television event series, both in the U.S., and internationally in Latin America. 
 
She will also participate in the recruiting and matchmaking processes for the Combate Americas men's division.

Rivera-Calanoc has made history with Combate Americas twice before, competing in both the franchise's first-ever, live televised U.S. event in Las Vegas in 2015, as well as its first live televised event in Mexico last January with Tate in her corner.
 
A 10-year veteran of professional MMA competition, Rivera-Calanoc was ranked amongst the top 10 fighters in the world in three different weight classes - flyweight (125 pounds), strawweight (115 pounds) and atomweight (105 pounds) - at three different points in her career. 
 
On August 23, 2008, Rivera-Calanoc was crowned a world champion after defeating Shawn Tamaribuchi by way of unanimous decision in a flyweight contest in Shawnee, Okla.
 
Born in Chihuahua, Mexico, Rivera-Calanoc immigrated to the U.S. at age 5 with her family, and was raised in Tulsa, Okla.  She returned to her roots in Chihuahua annually until her latter teenage years.
