EDUCATION
Welcome Hearts for Hearing Campers
This summer, the OKCMOA once again partners with Hearts for Hearing, an OKC-based 501(c)3 organization that provides comprehensive hearing healthcare for all ages, to present a camp for children who are deaf or hard-of-hearing but learning to listen and talk.
The camp, "What's the Story?," serves children ages five years to early teens from all over the state as well as neighboring states to encounter storytelling from a variety of perspectives. They unearth Native American culture and the history of storytelling through words, music, dance, and visual arts and will be inspired to share their stories with peers and generations to come. Campers explore the great storytellers of their time, complemented by performances, hands-on art-making projects, and interaction with real-life storytellers within their own community.

NEW Drop-in Drawing Program Launched
Join us this Thursday, June 14, from 6:30-8:30pm and try your hand at drawing from artworks on view in the special exhibition FUSION [A New Century of Glass]. Bring sketching materials, or we will provide them for you, and learn basic drawing techniques from artist Joni Derr.
"We invite visitors to spend time looking more in-depth at art in the galleries and possibly even learn a new skill. For the more advanced, this is a wonderful way to exercise your passion. But overall, it's great opportunity to slow down and unwind after a busy day," comments Chandra Boyd, senior associate curator of education.
All ages and skill levels are welcome during this monthly, come-and-go session. Upcoming Drop-in Drawing programs will be held July 12 and August 9. For more info call (405) 236-3100, ext. 231.
