December 2016

We could not be successful without YOU!
Happy Holidays and THANK YOU!

CORA's 45th Anniversary year has certainly been a year to remember! We have enhanced and added services where needed, and we have strengthened strategic partnerships to help poise us for a bright future. We have also warmly welcomed many new staff members and have had to say goodbye to some valued friends and colleagues.

We will be sending off a very important CORA employee later this month who deserves special recognition for her 41 years of dedicated service to CORA.
Pat Stoerrle, Director in our non-public school services division, will be retiring at the end of December. Pat has exemplified the character, compassion, love of children and zeal that represents our CORA employees so well.  Congratulations!

I would like to say a special thank you to the generous attendees, individual contributors and corporate sponsors of the Champions for Children Celebration. Your ongoing support allows us to continue to help children and families overcome obstacles and reach their full potential. I think anyone who attended the event will agree that our 2016 Classroom Champion, Christian Brown, articulated the impact CORA can have, better the any of us could have stated it. "People define success in many different ways. Thankfully, the wonderful people at CORA believed in me and because of what I've achieved, I'm successful in their eyes. For that, I owe them my gratitude."

Like Christian, I owe all of you my sincerest gratitude for all that all you do to support CORA every day - we could not be successful without you! I wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday season and new year!

Gratefully,
AnnMarie Schultz

CORA Counselors Creating a Culture of Caring
High School Teens Sponsor a "Day of Random Kindness"

CORA Counselor, Jessica MacKay, is to host a school-wide activity each month that focuses on building respect and cohesion at Archbishop Ryan High School. Jessica considers the "No Place for Hate" Club activities some of the best parts of her counseling position.

"My students are so passionate about spreading kindness and acceptance, it's truly inspiring! Some of them have experienced some form of bullying in the past, so we do activities to educate them on ways to handle difficult situations in the future. Our meetings are always open for new members to join and they do...we usually have 1-2 new walk-ins each month, and the way they are embraced and welcomed by the other students is heartwarming."            Read More Here
