Annual Clean-Up Days Scheduled for April 27 & 28
La Vista's annual Clean-Up Days will be held on Friday, April 27 and Saturday April 28.

All residents, including residents in the City's Extra-Territorial Zoning Jurisdiction, are encouraged to take advantage of this free disposal service by bringing discarded items to the Public Works Facility, 9900 Portal Road. Hours of operation will be 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Examples of items that will be accepted include major appliances, televisions, lawn and household furniture, toys,  bikes, lawn mowers, grills and mattresses. There will be a separate dumpster to collect yard waste, leaves and grass clippings. Tree branches will be accepted if their diameter is less than 6 inches. Motor oil and anti-freeze will accepted but must be free of debris. All types of batteries will also be accepted.

Electronic recycling will be available this year.

Items that will be accepted include: computers, computer monitors, mouse, stereos, speakers and printers. Computer hard drive erasing and destruction is also offered. Television sets will not be accepted for recycling, but can be disposed with other debris on site.

Paint, tires, hazardous waste will not be accepted. Paint and household chemicals and cleaners can be dropped off at Under the Sink, 4001 S. 120th Street.

Proof of residency will be required with either a valid driver's license or a utility bill. For more information contact the Public Works Department, 402-331-8927.

MLB Skills Competitions Coming to La Vista April 28!
Major League Baseball's Pitch, Hit & Run and Junior Home Run Derby competitions
are returning to La Vista!

Both events are FREE!

Saturday, April 28
La Vista Sports Complex - south of 66th and Harrison streets

Pitch, Hit and Run
Boys and girls ages 7-14 are invited to participate in Pitch, Hit and Run where they will
compete in four separate age divisions.

There are also two separate divisions for baseball and softball. Participants may compete in either division.

Registration is FREE and can be done online at OR in person the day of the event.

Jr. Home Run Derby
The Jr. Home Run Derby is open to boys and girls ages 14 and under. Participants will
compete in one of two ages groups (12U or 14U) to test their hitting skills and power!

Parent pitching is allowed, but not required. Volunteer pitchers will be available and each
batter will be limited to 10 outs with a four-minute time limit. Each age division's champion will be crowned by who can hit the most home runs.

Registration is FREE and can only be done in person the day of the event.
Youth Baseball, Girls Softball Openings

Our youth baseball program 11/12 year old division has two openings. 

Practices are held at coach's discretion during the week. Games will begin the last week of April. Game days and locations vary and can be held during the week and on weekends. *Start date is subject to change.
Ages: Boys ages 11/12 as of April 1
Fees:   Resident: $85, non-residents $115

Girls Softball
Our girls softball program in the 11/12 year old division has two openings as well. 

Practices are held at coach's discretion during the week. Games will begin in May. Game days are Friday evenings and Saturday mornings/afternoons. *Start date is subject to change.
Ages: Girls ages 11/12 as of April 1
Fees:  Resident: $85, non-residents $115
Coed T-ball League Registration
Registration is still open for our Coed T-Ball League for five and six-year olds! 

The early-bird deadline is April 28 and the final deadline is May 12.

Preschool Playtime at the Community Center
Did you know the La Vista Community Center hosts a preschool playtime twice a week?
Each Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon the Community Center gym is an open playground for those kiddos who are preschool age and younger.
Parents, grandparents or caregivers are welcome to join us for this indoor playtime. We recently expanded these hours as well!
Cooking Classes Available this Spring and Summer
The Community Center has partnered with Chef Amber Moon to offer a variety of cooking classes this spring, including Big Chef Little Chef, an Adult Cooking Club and Date Night in the Kitchen.

Fun, family-oriented cooking classes for adults, children and teens! If your child can stir, they can cook!
