We want to share with you two important updates to our COVID guidelines that will go into effect tomorrow, Tuesday, Dec. 8.



QUARANTINE
As you may have heard, the CDC announced that it is reducing the number of days one should quarantine after being exposed to COVID from 14 days to between 7 and 10 days. We have consulted with the NYC Department of Health and, as of now, the 14 day quarantine guideline is still mandated for schools. We will certainly update you if there are any changes to our current policy. 

MASK POLICY
Due to an increase in COVID cases in NYC we are updating our in-school mask policy. 

Indoor Lower School Lunch
  • Students should take their masks off for eating only.
  • When masks are removed, students may not get up from their seats or talk; it is quiet eating time. 
  • To engage students during this time; the adult on lunch duty will read-aloud to students. 
  • When children are finished eating, they will put their masks back on and, at that time, can clean up and chat with friends from their seated area.

Middle School Outdoor Lunch/Recess
  • Students should take their masks off for eating only.
  • When masks are removed, students may not get up from their seats or talk; it is quiet eating time. 
  • To engage students during outdoor lunch, the adult on duty will continue to take music requests (when masks are on). 
  • During indoor lunches, teachers may opt to screen current events updates, curriculum-related films and shows, podcasts, or audiobooks. 
  • When children are finished eating, they will put their masks back on and, at that time, can continue their outdoor recess/break.

Snack
  • Each pod will have a designated 5-10 minute snack time when everyone is permitted to have snack (amount of time depends on age of students).
  • When masks are removed, students may not get up from their seats or talk; it is quiet eating time.

Additional Mask Breaks
If students request a mask break, they are able to take off their mask for 1-2 minutes in their seat and cannot talk at that time.
