Ilana Nossel, M.D. Appointed Medical Director for OnTrackNY

CPI is pleased to announce that Ilana Nossel, M.D., has been appointed as medical director for OnTrackNY, and in this role will help to oversee the clinical intervention and its dissemination across the state.

OnTrackNY is an innovative treatment program for adolescents and young adults who have recently experienced first episodes of psychosis. OnTrackNY helps people achieve their goals such as succeeding in school, getting a job, and building relationships. The program serves individuals who have nonaffective psychoses, who are age 16 to 30 and who are within two years of the onset of psychotic symptoms. Dr. Nossel is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry in the Division of Behavioral Health Services and Policy Research at the New York State Psychiatric Institute and Columbia University Medical Center. She has worked on early psychosis interventions for the past 7 years, including as part of the Recovery After an Initial Schizophrenia Episode-Implementation Evaluation Study (RAISE-IES), as team psychiatrist for the Washington Heights OnTrack team, and as a trainer for psychiatrists and nurses for OnTrack teams.

Dr. Nossel has a particular interest in the development of interventions to help individuals engage in care. She completed a pilot study adapting Critical Time Intervention, using peer case managers to engage frequent users of the psychiatric emergency room. Dr. Nossel also has an interest in education, having served as associate director for the NYSPI Residents Clinic for the past 4.5 years, and in reproductive mental health.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Nossel as medical director of OnTrackNY.
