CPS Resumes Classes and Snow Removal Update!

Dear Friends,

I am writing to provide an update on the snow removal operations resulting from the historic snowstorm over the weekend.

Beginning tomorrow, all Chicago Public Schools will re-open for classes during their normal hours of operation.

To date, all main and arterial streets have been cleared of snow, and beginning at approximately 9:00 am this morning the Department of Streets and Sanitation began snow removal operations on the "side streets" throughout the 43rd Ward.

At this time, each side street has received attention from the Department of Streets and Sanitation, and they will continue to engage in snow removal operations through the remainder of the evening and into tomorrow to further reduce the presence of snow found on these streets.

I'd like to thank the thousands of residents and area businesses that have assisted their friends, neighbors and others in need during the past 24 hours as we continue to remove the snow from areas in the public way.

To track the status of snow plows in areas near your residence, please feel free to visit the City's "plow tracker" by clicking here.

City Waste Removal Service Update

Due to the current weather conditions and the present focus on snow removal, the Department of Streets and Sanitation suspended waste hauler service for Monday, February 2nd. As a result, there will be temporary delays in waste removal service, and it is likely that it will be several days for waste hauler service to return to normal.

In the interim, it would be extremely helpful if area residents could clear snow on and around their personal waste bins to make it accessible for Streets and Sanitation maintenance crews to empty the bins.

As always, if my office can be of assistance please do not hesitate to contact us directly at 773-348-9500 or via email at yourvoice@ward43.org.

Sincerely,

Michele Signature
