CREW National Capital Committee  Program

The CREW National Capital Committee (CNCC) was founded in 2006 to bring CREW Washington DC, CREW Maryland Suburban and CREW Northern Virginia together to increase visibility of their individual chapters and members, while raising the profile of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) in the National Capital area.  With the common goal to advance the success of women in commercial real estate, it was decided that certain collective activities would be coordinated through this joint committee. CNCC held its first event of the year on January 10th in Arlington, Virginia. The annual CNCC Market and Economic Forecast featured Washington, DC Broker and CREW DC member: Wendy Feldman Block, Savillis Studley; Northern Virginia Broker: Cathy Delcoco, CBRE; and Suburban Maryland Broker and CREW DC member: Betsy Daily, NAI Michael.  The evening began with keynote speaker Heidi Learner, Chief Economist at Savills Studley followed by presentations by Wendy, Cathy and Betsy. Scott Homa, JLL, then moderated a panel discussion with all four women.

Our next CNCC program is coming up in March.  Stay tuned for more information.

Chapter Challenge 2017

It's a New Year and a New Chapter Challenge ! The Board of Directors invites  you once again to be a part of CREW DC's success in answering the call of the CREW Network Foundation Chapter Challenge. The Three Chapter Challenges are:

  2. Get 100% of your chapter's board to give an individual donation
  3. Get 50% of your chapter's membership to give an individual donation
The CREW DC chapter has already submitted the $1,000 donation to the CREW Network Foundation and at the Board of Directors meeting on January 4 th the Board achieved 100% participation, so we are well on our way. The success of this

President's Corner

Phyllis Liebman Brill
2017 President

Dear Members,

CREW DC is proud to be one of the largest chapters in CREW Network. In 2016, we ended the year with 571 members, our largest count to date. Our membership comprises all levels of experience, across all areas in commercial real estate. Eighty percent of our membership has 5 or more years of experience in the industry and 40% of those women have 15 years or more.
CREW Network recently conducted a study which found that most non-renewals were women who were members for just 1-2 years and who were not actively involved in the organization. Of our 571 members in 2016, 250 were "new" members with 2 or less years in the organization. That's a lot of women! As we focus on membership renewals, we encourage those of you who have not been actively engaged to get involved.
With busy schedules both professionally and personally I know it is often hard to find the time but, I encourage you to try. If you get involved, I know you will not be disappointed. CREW DC has so much to offer. With 11 different committees, there is bound to be at least one of interest. Worried about time constraints? Some committees only need assistance during one time of the year. With others, you can get more involved as your schedule allows. Committee meetings are held monthly. Some meet first thing in the morning, others during lunch and some in the evenings making it possible to fit almost everyone's schedule. Have questions about a committee? Reach out to the committee chair , we welcome your interest and involvement. The programs committee is also working on a members only event for the evening of February 22nd where you will hear first-hand about the various committees and have the opportunity to meet the Chairs and members of those committees. You won't want to miss it!
And, if you are questioning your renewal for any reason, please reach out to me, Melanie Stehmer-Townsend (Director of Membership) Michelle Gaus (Chair of the Membership Committee) or anyone on the Board. We want to hear from you. Our intent is to continue building on what we've achieved to date by strengthening our chapter with members from all aspects of the commercial real estate industry, at every level, who believe in our mission and want to be engaged in a productive and meaningful way. As an active member of the CREW DC chapter, you have many more opportunities to create meaningful connections that could potentially lead to new business. Renew today!
